Ho Chi Minh City museum hosts stamp exhibition marking 80th National Day

The exhibition helps the public gain a deeper understanding of stamps as cultural ambassadors.

The exhibition, themed “80 years of Vietnam reaching out to the world”, highlights and honors the documentary and artistic values of postage stamps in preserving history and reflecting Vietnam’s culture, politics and major events.

The event features three main topics, including “Vietnam on World Stamps” and “The World Tells Vietnam’s Story through Stamps” and “The August Revolution 1945 and National Day September 2 on Postage Stamps”, and a collection of medals and badges from the early period of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

Hoang Anh Tuan, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of History, said that each postage stamp serves as a “miniature name card”, and carries a powerful influence in promoting a nation’s image, nature, culture and people to the world.

He added that with a rich history and culture, Vietnam has appeared mutliple times on other countries' stamps.

"The images of Vietnam and its people, landscapes, historic events and notable figures printed on this collection reflect the close ties between Vietnam and the global community," said Tuan.

Co-organized by the Viet Stamp Club and the Ho Chi Minh Museum of History, the stamp exhibition will run until September 27.
