Lee Hsien Loong welcomes Vietnamese PM for 1st-in-five-year visit

The visit opens the year marking the 50th anniversary of bilateral relations and 10 years of the Strategic Partnership.

Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong today [February 9] welcomed Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on his first visit to Singapore since he took the office in 2021 and the first by a Vietnamese prime minister in the past five years.

After the ceremonial reception at the Istana, PM Chinh will call on President Halimah Yacob and join a meeting with PM Lee, who will also host an official lunch in his honor. 

It will start a busy schedule during the visit that is poised to focus on green and digital economy.

 PM Chinh and his spouse Le Thi Bich Tran visit the Singapore Botanic Gardens which is home to the National Orchid Garden. 
 PM Chinh and Madam Tran have a new orchid hybrid named in their honor "Pailionanda Pham Le Tran Chinh".
