Logo celebrating 50 years of Vietnam-Australia diplomatic relations unveiled

Australia-Vietnam relations are symbolized by a simple, eye-catching, and easily recognizable logo to commemorate the 50th anniversary next year.

The Australia-Vietnam 50th anniversary logo was unveiled on December 21 in Ho Chi Minh City, at a ceremony announcing the results of a logo design competition organized for the occasion.

At the awarding ceremony, the Australian Consulate-General in Ho Chi Minh City, Sarah Hooper, congratulated the winner. “We are pleased to see an entry that successfully combines well-known Australian and Vietnamese symbols into a simple and eye-catching logo that will be easily recognizable as representing the 50th anniversary,” she said.

The winning logo, selected by Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Andrew Goledzinowski and Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia Nguyen Tat Thanh from more than 70 entries, consists of a five-pointed star made from the five boomerangs, an internationally recognized symbol of Australia.

According to Tran Van Trung, winner of the logo design contest, the connection is the idea behind creating the winning logo. "As for the color scheme, I chose red to represent Vietnam, dark blue for Australia, green for agriculture, blue for the ocean, and yellow for the prosperity of the two countries," he said.

The award-winning logo was designed by Tran Van Trung.

The 50th anniversary will be celebrated in Vietnam throughout 2023 with a program covering all aspects of Australia-Vietnam relations, from education, agriculture, trade, and investment and tourism to climate cooperation, vocational training, innovation, and equality.

Highlights include a music showcase featuring artists from Australia and Vietnam, the Walking Through a Songlines digital art installation, a CSIRO innovation showcase, and Taste of Australia events.

Speaking about the year ahead, Ambassador Goledzinowski said, "The year ahead is an opportunity not only to reflect on the achievements of the relationship over the past five decades but also to look to the future of the deepening friendship and partnership between Australia and Vietnam. It is going to be a very exciting and very busy year."
