Malaysia Prime Minister welcomed in Vietnam

Economic relations have become the key pillar of bilateral relations in the post-pandemic.

Malaysia’s Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob was greeted by his Vietnamese counterpart Pham Minh Chinh on March 21. 

 The three-day visit is expected to boost economic ties in the post-pandemic following the signing of the Plan of Action (POA) 2021-2025 for the Implementation of the Framework for Strategic Partnership. Photos: VGP, MOFA

The visit is of significance ahead of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.  

 This is the first visit to Vietnam paid by the Malaysian PM since his inauguration in August 2021.

 Malaysia is currently Vietnam’s second-largest trade partner in ASEAN. 
 The two countries set a bilateral trade target of US$18 billion for 2025.
