Media outlets help build social trust and consensus

Hanoi aims to realize economic growth of 7.5% this year, for which the support and contribution from the press are essential, the Hanoi Party chief has said.

Media outlets have been a key force in helping the local authorities build social trust and consensus.

Secretary of the Hanoi People’s Committee Dinh Tien Dung gave the remarks during his visits to a number of press agencies on June 17 ahead of the 96th Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 – June 21, 2021).

At Nhan Dan (People’s) Newspaper, the Communist Review, and the Vietnam Journalists Association, Dung noted in the face of the current Covid-19 outbreak, the city remains on track to realize the twin goal of both containing the pandemic and boosting economic recovery.

“The city has accomplished major political missions, including the organization of the general election for deputies of the 15th National Assembly and all-level People’s Councils of the 2021-2026 tenure, and the 10th-grade entrance examination,” Dung added.

According to Dung, Hanoi’s gross regional domestic product (GRDP) growth in the first six months is estimated at nearly 6%.

“The city determines to achieve an economic growth rate of 7.5% in 2021,” stated Dung, adding efforts are needed to prevent the pandemic from delaying the implementation of key strategic tasks with high significance for development.

“Hanoi, in order to achieve these major goals, would need the support and contribution from the press,” Dung stressed.

“The authorities are committed to ensuring the successful implementation of the resolution adopted by Hanoi’s 17th Party Congress, with an ultimate goal of building a beautiful, civilized and modern capital city,” he added.

During his visits to the Government Portal and the Hanoi Radio& Television Broadcasting, Anh hoped press agencies would continue contributing to the development of Hanoi by timely delivering news and information of the city to the local people and international community.
