News portal opened to strengthen Vietnam-Cuba friendship

Many activities will be held in 2023 to commemorate the friendship between Vietnam and Cuba.

The Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association of Hanoi on December 30 launched a portal to spread the news about Vietnam and Cuba and strengthen the long-term friendship between the two nations.

The portal is available at http://hoivietnamcubahanoi.vn/, and stories are written in Vietnamese and Spanish. The articles are classified into five sections: Introduction, News, Today Cuba, Vietnam-Cuba Friendship, and Special Topics.

The portal provides the latest news about Vietnam and Cuba, foreign affairs activities, policies, and stances of Vietnam and Cuba regarding international and regional issues, promotes the image and people of Vietnam and Cuba, and delivers the collaborative activities between Vietnam and Cuba.

Speaking at the introduction ceremony of the portal, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Cuba to Vietnam, Orlando Nicolas Hernandez Guillen, said that the portal is the greeting from the people of Vietnam to the people of Cuba on the celebration of the 64th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution.

Under professional and experienced management, the portal will run properly and assure effective communication for the people of the two nations, he said.

The ambassador said he would often follow the portal and recommend the portal to Cuban journalism and media agencies for reference.

The year 2023 will see many activities being held to commemorate the relationship between Vietnam and Cuba, especially the 50th anniversary of the official visit of Fidel Castro to Vietnam, according to ambassador Orlando.

The portal will become a key communication channel for the two sides to spread the news about those activities, he said.

President of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association Nguyen Van Hay told the ceremony that the news portal would become a trustworthy website introducing and updating the news about Vietnam and Cuba.

The portal will contribute to the strengthening of the Vietnam-Cuba friendship in all fields, especially in people exchange activities, he added.

President Hay hoped that the introduction of the portal would have positive impacts on the bilateral relationship and inspire and attract a huge amount of readers in both Vietnam and Cuba.

The portal may also become a place where the people of Vietnam and Cuba express their pride in the bilateral friendship and continue to foster the friendship of the two nations, he said.

Nguyen Viet Thao, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association, urged writers and authors to update the portal with timely reports and news about the activities of the Vietnamese and Cuban people, enterprises, and organizations.

The portal must also provide historical materials about the relationships between the two parties, governments, and people of Vietnam and Cuba, he said.

The portal should also facilitate Vietnamese and Cuban people to show their affection and friendship to each other, Thao concluded.
