Indonesia is one of Vietnam's largest trading partners in ASEAN, while Iran and Vietnam are celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties this year.
Vietnam’s Chairman of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue will make a week-long trip to Indonesia and Iran from August 4 to August 10.

Chairman Hue is scheduled to attend the 44th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-44) held under the Indonesian chairmanship at the invitation of Puan Maharani, Speaker of the People’s Representative Council of Indonesia, and to visit Iran at the invitation of Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Speaker of Iranian Parliament.
AIPA serves as a center for communication and information among Member Parliaments, which consist of Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
The event will take place on August 5-11, including meetings of Women Parliamentarians of AIPA (WAIPA) and Young Parliamentarians of AIPA (YPA), political, economic and social matters, Panel Dialogue with AIPA Observer Parliaments, and AIPA-ASEAN Hearing.
Meanwhile, the visit to Iran is expected to include the Vietnam-Iran Economic Forum, which gathers a list of traders from both countries. In the latest move, the two countries have prepared the Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) and bartered a deal that would be among the subjects discussed between the two sides.
As part of the preparations for the visit to Tehran, Head of the Vietnamese National Assembly’s Committee for External Relations Vu Hai Ha hosted a reception in Hanoi on June 23 for Iranian Ambassador to Vietnam Ali Akbar Nazari.
