Patriotic Hanoi Café celebrates 80th Vietnam National Day

In the days leading up to National Day on September 2, Hanoi invites visitors to an emotional journey back to the past with elaborately designed and unmissable stops.

THE HANOI TIMES — A patriotic coffee shop in Duong Noi, Hanoi, inspired by Vietnam’s 2 September 1945 Declaration of Independence, attracts many young customers with its National Day-themed décor and atmosphere.

Bao Ngan, a representative of the café, said the cafe’s décor is inspired by the historic moment on September 2, 1945, when President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, marking the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

“I hope that every guest, when leaving the shop, will take something with them like a beautiful photo, a quiet moment, or simply a warm feeling from experiencing the special atmosphere of National Day,” said Ngan.

Phuong Oanh, a young tourist visiting the café, told The Hanoi Times she was excited to experience the space firsthand.

“I really love history, so I was eager to come as soon as I saw these bittersweet images going viral on social media,” said Oanh, adding that she enjoyed taking photos and sipping drinks amid the café’s unique décor.

The café aims to offer visitors a memorable experience while celebrating the nation’s heroic past, carrying a meaningful message that independence and freedom are treasures to be cherished.

Inside, the café is filled with red flags and yellow stars.

Documentary photos and antique objects evoke memories of Independence Day and the charm of old Hanoi.

One corner of the shop is decorated to pay tribute to artists who have spread patriotism through poetry and music.

This corner features images of famous musician Van Cao and his musical score of Tien Quan Ca or Vietnam’s national anthem.

The cafe’s space is designed around the concept: Pride of the past – Responsibility for the present.

Every check-in corner serves as a reminder of the historical moments from 80 years ago.

Many young people come to take photos and check in at the decorated corners and booths.

Children are excited too when they experience the unique atmosphere and take photos

The shop also offers costume rental services for both children and adults, featuring shirts printed with the words “Independence - Freedom - Happiness” and the red flag with a yellow star.

The cafe’s drinks are beautifully presented, inspired by National Day.

The vibrant red and yellow tones stand out as a proud highlight, attracting many young visitors.
