The event is a tribute to the enduring brotherhood between the two nations.

During the ceremony, Cuban Ambassador Orlando Nicolás Hernández Guillén highlighted the deep-rooted and special bond between Cuba and Vietnam, forged during the challenging years of Vietnamese resistance.

He referred to a significant historical moment 50 years ago when Fidel Castro, the iconic leader of the Cuban Revolution, became the first and only foreign head of government to cross the  17th Parallel amid the war.

Highlighting the solid political trust that underpins Vietnam-Cuba relations and leads to cooperation across numerous domains, the Cuban Ambassador pointed out that Vietnam stands as Cuba's second-largest trading partner and the largest Asian investor.
