Prime Minister urges youth to be pioneers in key fields

Vietnam’s brightest young talents were honored for their excellence.

THE HANOI TIMES — Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has urged Vietnamese youth to make more efforts in six key areas to contribute to the national efforts in a new era.

At the Vietnam Outstanding Young Faces Awards 2024 ceremony held in Hanoi on March 23, Prime Minister Chinh emphasized that young people should pioneer innovative thinking and strategic vision, lead the way in scientific research, technological advancement and digital transformation, and shape Vietnam's culture and identity for the global stage.

Chinh outlined three pioneering aspects, including innovative thinking and strategic vision; the development of science and technology, innovation and national digital transformation; the absorption of world civilization in Vietnam; and the internationalization of Vietnam's advanced culture imbued with national identity.

He added six focal points for the youth: fulfilling assigned political tasks with innovation and agility; helping to streamline the organizational apparatus and advance administrative reform; leading in production, business and entrepreneurship; promoting social justice and welfare, ensuring that no one is left behind; promoting international integration and cultural diplomacy, building a self-reliant economy; and strengthening national defense and security, willing to sacrifice for the Fatherland.

The leader also encouraged young people to think big, act decisively, and work together to build a prosperous and modern Vietnam.

From top scientists to rising sports stars, Vietnam’s brightest young talents were honored for their excellence in 2024. The award recognizes outstanding young people under the age of 35 who have made remarkable contributions in nine categories: academics, scientific research, labor and production, business and entrepreneurship, national defense, public security, sports, culture and the arts, and social activities.

Among the honorees are accomplished scientists such as Dr. Pham Huy Hieu, Dr. Nguyen Viet Huong, and Dr. Le Kim Hung, who have made significant contributions to academia, international publications, and patented innovations. They are recognized for their high-quality research and inventions.

The awardees also featured Trinh Thu Vinh, who won a gold medal at the Asian and Southeast Asian Shooting Championships; renowned young artist Nguyen Huynh Son; and Phung Quang Trung, who has spent years using  AI technology  to restore thousands of photos of fallen heroes.

The Outstanding Young Faces of Vietnam Award has been held for 29 years and has recognized nearly 560 outstanding individuals. Many past winners have continued to excel, becoming influential leaders, successful entrepreneurs, and outstanding citizens who contribute to national development.
