Promoting trade and investment cooperation with Morocco, East Timor

At the receptions, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc expressed the desire that both sides will promote cooperation in the fields of trade and investment.

On February 20 afternoon, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc hosted a reception for Moroccan Ambassador to Vietnam Azzeddiine Farhane and East Timor Ambassador to Vietnam Pascoela Barreto dos Santos, who paid a courtesy visit on the occasion of missions in Vietnam. At these meetings, the Prime Minister expressed the desire that both sides will promote cooperation in the fields of trade and investment.

At the reception, the PM expressed his hope that Morocco will expand multifaceted cooperation with ASEAN, including Vietnam. He spoke highly of Morocco’s socio-economic development achievements, especially in tourism and renewable energy.

Mr. Phuc suggested the two countries boost economic cooperation to improve their trade, increase exchanges of all-level delegations and maintain close coordination at regional and international forums. Vietnam wants Morocco to continue providing scholarships for Vietnamese students to pursue their study in the African country, the PM said.

In turn, Ambassador Azzediine Farhane stressed that Morocco treasures its ties with Viet Nam, a gateway for the country to promote collaboration with Southeast Asia. Morocco is willing to act as a bridge for boosting the relations between the two countries, he added.

The ambassador agreed with PM Phuc that Vietnam and Morocco need to enhance cooperation in tourism and education and aquatic farming.

Vietnam will create the best possible conditions for enterprises from Timor Leste to operate in the country, affirmed Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc. He said he expects the country to speed up the groundwork for its free trade agreement with Vietnam to soon come into effect.

PM Phuc also welcomed the ambassador to begin her duty in Vietnam, saying he believes she will contribute to boosting all-round bilateral cooperation, which currently falls short of potential.

For her part, the Timor Leste diplomat stressed the traditional relations between her country and Vietnam, as well as her positive impression about the friendly people and peaceful country. She spoke highly of Vietnamese investments in Timor Leste, particularly those made by the military-run telecommunication group Viettel.

She said she expects the Vietnamese Government will create more favourable conditions for businesses to invest in Timor Leste, especially in training and information technology. She pledged to make all-out efforts to enhance bilateral ties.
