Propaganda poster contests launched for Hanoi’s 70th liberation anniversary

Vietnamese citizens and Viet kieu (Vietnamese Overseas) can participate in the contest to bring a new perspective to the thousand-year-old traditions of the capital.

Hanoi has launched a propaganda poster contest to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the capital's Liberation Day [October 10, 1954 - 2024].

At the opening ceremony, Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Tran Thi Van Anh said that the competition aims to promote the potential of artistic creativity, encouraging artists to create propaganda posters on the theme of the capital city.

"The contest is an opportunity for artists from provinces and cities nationwide to bring a new perspective to the thousand-year-old traditions of the capital as a City for Peace and a Creative City. The organizer hopes the competition will find works with new and out-of-the-box ideas," Van Anh said.

Tran Quoc Chiem, Chairman of the Hanoi Literary Association, said: "The contest will focus on the importance and historical significance of the Liberation Day of Hanoi, the glorious tradition of the revolutionary struggle, and the great contributions made by the Party, the army and the people of Hanoi in the liberation and subsequent building and safeguarding of the nation."

In addition, propaganda works will highlight the heroism and sacrifice of the army and people of Hanoi during the 60 days and nights, and the achievements of the capital in 70 years of construction and development.

"When we look back at the development process of the city from this glorious milestone, it is even more clear that the linchpin of the development of Hanoi as it is today is the spirit of solidarity and the unyielding will of the people of the capital," Chiem emphasized.

The contest is open to anyone except the organizing committee, and the number of entries is unlimited. All entries must be 54cmx79cm and new creations that have not been submitted to other contests. The deadline for all entries is June 30, 2024.
