Accordingly, a series of 10 films and talk shows with young directors will take place from July 28 to September 29 in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
Vietnamese film curator Marcus Vu Manh Cuong said that S-Express is a network of 10 film curators from Southeast Asian countries.
Each year, these curators will select a series of short films with a length of 60 to 90 minutes to represent their countries at the S-Express film event.
These selected short films will also be screened at other regional film festivals, including Mini Film Festival (Kuching, Malaysia), Minikino Film Week (Bali, Indonesia), Thai Short Films & Videos Festival (Bangkok, Thailand), among others.
“In order to have a wider connection with the audience, S-Express Vietnam 2022 will be held in virtual and in-person formats in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The program will also interact with foreign filmmakers in an online platform,” according to Cuong.
S-Express Vietnam 2022 was kicked-start with a series of Vietnamese independent films on July 28. Short films from Singapore will be screened on August 4, those from Laos on August 11, Indonesia on August 18, the Philippines on August 25, Malaysia on September 1, Thailand on September 8, Brunei on September 15, and Myanmar on September 22 and Cambodia on September 29.
