September 2: Vietnam-US Friendship Heritage Day

The move was made one year after the US-Vietnam elevated their relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with a focus on people-to-people exchanges.

Vietnam and the US have decided to choose September 2 as the Vietnam-US Friendship Heritage Day.

The proclamation on the day was given to Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang by Mayor of San Francisco London Breed during the Vietnamese official’s visit to the US in late August.

Le Thi Thu Hang expressed her gratitude to the San Francisco city government for its significant efforts in advancing the bilateral relationship between the US and Vietnam during the meeting, highlighting, in particular, their resolve to form a sister city relationship with Ho Chi Minh City prior to the two nations normalizing diplomatic relations.
