Six Vietnamese athletes vie for top positions at 2025 Badminton World Championship

The 2025 Badminton World Championship is the sport's most prestigious event, bringing together the world's best players.

THE HANOI TIMES — Vietnam has been given five spots in the 2025 Badminton World Championship, which will take place in France in August.

The first two spots go to Nguyen Thuy Linh, the top female badminton player in Vietnam, and Vu Thi Trang, a former Olympian.

Earlier this week, Linh retook the 20th world ranking after earning a silver medal at the 2025 Canada Open, a World Tour Super 300 event.

While Linh's qualification was inevitable given her high ranking, Trang's was unexpected. The former Olympian has competed in only a few international events recently. Her most recent competition was the Vietnam International Challenge 2025  in March.

Among the men, the top two players, Nguyen Hai Dang and Le Duc Phat, who are ranked 61st and 62nd in the world, respectively, received their berths.

The final spot went to the men's pair Tran Dinh Manh and Nguyen Dinh Hoang, the reigning champions of the Vietnam International Challenge 2025 and world No. 134.

The 2025 Badminton World Championship will be held at the Adidas Arena Paris, which hosted the badminton competitions at the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
