South Korea proposes cooperation with Hanoi in host of fields

Ambassador Park Noh-wan expressed his delight at South Korea’s cooperation with Vietnam in general and Hanoi city in particular, with many positive achievements.

South Korea wants to cooperate with Hanoi in a wide range of fields, newly-appointed South Korean Ambassador to Vietnam Park Noh-wan said at a meeting with Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung on November 14.

At the meeting, Ambassador Park Noh-wan expressed his delight at South Korea’s cooperation with Vietnam in general and Hanoi city in particular, with many positive achievements. For instances, the strong investment wave from South Korea to Vietnam, trade and business expansion.

Currently, some 100,000 people form the South Korean community in Hanoi and the number is expected to double in the next 4-5 years, the ambassador said.

He also expressed his wish that Hanoi city will continue to facilitate Korean International School in the time ahead as it will be expand to host the rising number of Korean students.

Park Noh-wan mentioned the project of building the South Korean House, Samsung's R&D Center, expressing his hope that the Hanoi government will cooperate to promote these works.

According to the ambassador, promoting cooperation and exchange activities between Hanoi and Seoul is also one of his top goals in this term.

For his part, Hanoi mayor Nguyen Duc Chung expected Park Noh-wan to be a bridge for cooperation between the two countries, as well as the two capitals.

Reviewing the cooperation between South Korea and Hanoi, Chung said that the South Korea has become the second biggest foreign investor in the city, while Vietnam - South Korea relationship is in the best shape.

The chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee agreed to Park Noh-wan’s proposal and said that he would directly discuss with Korean International School's leaders in Hanoi.

Chung also pledged to create favorable conditions for cooperation projects in many fields with South Korea in the city, including the activities of the South Korean businesses in Hanoi.

The Hanoi mayor stressed that in the upcoming trip to South Korea, he will visit the headquarters of some South Korean groups, sign memorandums of understanding to expand cooperation and attend a business matching forum.
