Strengthening people-to-people diplomacy for long-term Vietnam-China relations

The Party, State, and People of Vietnam remain firm on bolstering the cooperation and friendship with the Party, State, and People of China.

Vietnam and China should continue to nurture and boost people-to-people diplomacy, especially in the young generation and those working in theoretical research or journalism to ensure the long-term relations of the two countries.

Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and head of the CPV Central Committee’s Communication and Education Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia stressed the view in a phone talk with Huang Kunming, Politburo member, Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee’s Publicity Department today [August 30].

During the talk, Nghia noted the Vietnam-China relations have been progressing in all spheres over the years.

According to Nghia, the two sides continue to maintain frequent communication channels in a flexible manner despite the Covid-19 outbreak.

Nghia said at the invitation of the CPC Central Committee, the General Secretary of the CPV Nguyen Phu Trong attended the CPC and World Political Party Summit in early June and delivered an important speech.

Nghia noted 2021 is a significant year for both countries. For Vietnam, it is the first year of implementing the resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, and for China, the first year of the 14th five-year plan.

“The Party, State, and People of Vietnam remain firm on bolstering the cooperation and friendship with the Party, State, and People of China,” Nghia added.

Nghia expressed his belief that the two countries would continue to strengthen and take the bilateral relations to a new height amid severe socio-economic impacts from the Covid-19 pandemic.

For his part, Huang Kunming expected the two Party bodies would continue to share experience in communication and Party building, along with cooperation in press publishing, and translation of major literary works of each country as means to bolster cultural exchange.

Both senior party officials agreed on conducting joint research on issues of mutual interests and keeping frequent communication to make substantial contributions to the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic partnership.
