Thousands join Rock Concert “The Heart of Vietnam” at Thang Long Imperial Citadel

The event gathered top Vietnamese rock bands, reimagined revolutionary songs, and blended tradition with modern sounds to inspire national pride.

THE HANOI TIMES — The art program “Rock Concert - The Heart of Vietnam” took place on September 7 at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel in Hanoi and attracted thousands of spectators. 

The event, which celebrated the 80th anniversary of National Day, gathered many renowned bands and artists, including Buc Tuong (The Wall), Ngu Cung (Pentatonic), Chillies, The Flob, Pham Anh Khoa, Pham Thu Ha, and Thai Thuy Linh.

They performed familiar songs like Len dang (Marching Forward), Hat mai khuc quan hanh (Sing Forever the Marching Song), Khat vong tuoi tre (Youth’s Aspiration), and Duong den ngay vinh quang (The Road to Glory), all reimagined in a vibrant rock spirit that ignited passion and energy.

General director Nguyen Trung Dung chose the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, a UNESCO World Heritage site, to honor a thousand years of history and give music a stage to inspire patriotism.

The concert impressed audiences with a highlight performance that combined the traditional music ensemble Thanh Am Xanh (Blue Melodies) and the rock bands.

The program features high artistic quality, a grand stage, and a powerful unifying spirit.

Musicians blended the sounds of the two-string fiddle, bamboo flute, and ethnic drums with electric guitars and jazz drums, creating a fresh and unique experience.

Audiences joined the atmosphere by participating in artist interactions, mini games, and moments of collective singing. The climax came with The Road to Glory, as all the artists and thousands of spectators sang together in unison.

With its grand stage, high artistic quality, and unifying spirit, “Rock Concert - The Heart of Vietnam” highlighted the commemorative events, stirred national pride, and inspired the younger generation.
