Int’l leaders hail Vietnam’s incredible achievements on 80th National Day celebrations
The congratulations highlight Vietnam’s historic socio-economic achievements and growing role on the international stage.
THE HANOI TIMES — Vietnam’s 80th National Day drew congratulations from world leaders and international organizations, highlighting the country’s historic achievements and its growing role on the global stage.

The messages affirmed the recognition of Vietnam’s historic achievements and its increasingly proactive and responsible role in global affairs.
Leaders from Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Timor-Leste, the Republic of Korea, the United States, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, France, and ASEAN Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn extended warm congratulations, affirming Vietnam’s rising international role and their desire to strengthen cooperation.
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and King Al-Sultan Ibrahim conveyed their congratulations to Vietnamese leaders, highlighting the elevation of bilateral ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2024 and expressing appreciation for Vietnam’s support during Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025.
Brunei’s Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah stressed the importance of the Comprehensive Partnership, highly appreciated the significant results of the 2023-2027 Action Plan and voiced hope to strengthen friendship and cooperation in his planned state visit to Vietnam.
Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto said that over seven decades of close ties have been deepened with the establishment of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, contributing to peace and stability in Southeast Asia.
Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., along with Senate and House leaders, praised the Vietnamese people’s resilience and rapid development, while reiterating the desire to expand the Strategic Partnership.
Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai hailed Vietnam’s spirit of solidarity and reaffirmed the significance of upgrading bilateral ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Singaporean leaders, including President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, emphasized the new Comprehensive Strategic Partnership as a foundation for stronger cooperation in food security, renewable energy, digital collaboration, and people-to-people exchanges. They also underlined the political trust and multisectoral cooperation.
Timor-Leste President José Ramos-Horta highlighted the inspiration of the successful August Revolution and reaffirmed the desire to expand bilateral cooperation as his country prepares for ASEAN membership.
South Korean President Lee Jae Myung expressed confidence that the Vietnam–RoK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership will advance to new heights based on mutual trust.
On behalf of the US Government, Secretary of State Marco Rubio congratulated Vietnam, recognizing its resilience, impressive progress and pivotal regional role. He also noted that 2025 marks 30 years of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
Japanese leaders, including Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru and Emperor Naruhito, welcomed the deepening Vietnam–Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, praising Vietnam’s reforms and expressing commitment to broader cooperation in economics, defense, parliamentary relations and cultural exchanges.
Leaders of New Zealand, Australia and France also sent warm congratulations, reflecting strong bilateral partnerships and the shared commitment to international law, peace and multilateralism.
ASEAN Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn commended Vietnam’s significant contributions over 30 years of ASEAN membership, stressing its consistent role in fostering solidarity and shaping the bloc’s future strategy.
