Speaking at the meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz during his first official visit to Vietnam, general secretary Trong said that the visit marks a milestone in the two-side relationship after Vietnam and Germany set up their strategic partnership in 2011.

Secretary Trong highly appreciated the talk between Olaf Scholz and Vietnam’s Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the agreements signed between the state agencies of the two countries.

“Vietnam always treasures the relationship with Germany,” Trong said.

“The two sides must enhance and promote their remarkable achievements for the good of the people and the peace, cooperation, and development of the region and the world.”

At the meeting, general secretary Trong discussed with Chancellor Olaf some solutions to foster the bilateral relationship in all fields, especially when the German government is now under the leadership of Chancellor Olaf.

Trong also thanked Germany’s assistance to Vietnam, including the Covid-19 vaccines that had significant effects on fighting the disease away and opening the economy again.

German Chancellor Olaf said that Germany sees Vietnam as one of its key partners in the world and ASEAN.

Olaf also spoke highly of the positive results between him and General Secretary Trong in March 2022. He agreed that the two nations would foster their bilateral relationship, improve the strategic partnership, and enhance cooperation in all fields, especially the new sectors such as national security and defense, energy transition, and supply chain development.
