Vietnam, Australia expand trade, investment and education cooperation

The move marks another step toward stronger local and business ties under the Vietnam-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

THE HANOI TIMES — Vietnam and Australia are enhancing cooperation across trade, investment, and education, with new initiatives to connect localities and businesses from both sides.

The issues were shared at a seminar linking Vietnam's localities with Australian partners was held in Sydney on August 14, when Vietnamese enterprises introduced products, explored market trends in Australia, and boosted two-way business and investment ties.

Nguyen Thanh Tung, Vietnamese Consul General in Sydney, said that the role of local-level diplomacy as a flexible and effective way to match the strengths of Vietnamese provinces with foreign partners.

He committed that the Consulate General will act as a bridge, supporting Australian partners in linking with Vietnamese localities in mutually beneficial sectors.

Andrew Goledzinowski, former Australian Ambassador to Vietnam, highlighted the two countries’ growing trade relationship and forecast further expansion in exports and investment.

He underscored the importance of investment in Vietnam, especially in key areas such as technology, education, agriculture, and energy.

Alana Kunz from the Australian Trade and Investment Commission said that Vietnam is an important political, geographic, and commercial partner, with opportunities to deepen collaboration in energy and other high-potential industries.

Meanwhile, Australian business leaders showed their interest in Vietnam’s energy-saving and manufacturing sectors.

Serge Popovic, Director of C-Coat Insulation Australia, said his company hopes to expand in Vietnam by partnering with local firms and potentially opening a factory.

Nigel Palmer from the Business New South Wales called for greater cooperation in education, science, and innovation, building on longstanding university partnerships.
