Vietnam ensures international media coverage of 14th National Party Congress

Vietnam pledges optimal conditions for foreign journalists reporting on the 14th National Party Congress, highlighting reform achievements and media support.

THE HANOI TIMES — International journalists will enjoy the best possible conditions to cover the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang said on January 19.

Hang made the statement at a meeting in Hanoi between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a delegation of international journalists who have come to Vietnam to report on the country’s most important political event.

The group includes reporters from communist Party-affiliated newspapers, media outlets linked to major political parties in various countries, overseas Vietnamese media organizations and international news agencies.

The deputy minister said the 14th National Party Congress is an event of exceptional historical significance that marks a major turning point in Vietnam’s development.

“This congress offers a chance to review 40 years of Doi moi achievements and set goals, a long-term vision and appropriate policies to guide Vietnam into a new era of development,” Hang said.

She noted that in 2025 Vietnam recorded major institutional breakthroughs, including the adoption of nine strategic resolutions in key development areas, a reorganization of development space and administrative boundaries and the rollout of a two-tier government model.

Vietnam continued to stand out in the region, with its economy reaching about US$510 billion, economic growth of 8.02% and GDP per capita of $5,000.

Exports and imports reached a record high of more than $900 billion, while international tourist arrivals exceeded 20 million, surpassing pre-pandemic levels.

Hang said international media outlets have widely reported these achievements and shared them with global audiences.

She expressed hope that visiting journalists would have a productive trip, gain firsthand insights into Vietnam’s socio-economic progress and enjoy meaningful experiences of the country’s culture, history and people.

Representatives of the visiting delegation said they felt honored to witness and report on such a major political event.

They praised Vietnam’s achievements over four decades of Doi moi as clear evidence of the sound leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and cited the country as a notable example of successful national development.

The journalists wished the congress success and pledged to report accurately and objectively, helping inform the world about Vietnam’s development while spreading messages of peace, friendship and social progress.

During the meeting, Deputy Minister Hang also answered questions on Vietnam’s socio-economic development and highlighted the role of overseas Vietnamese communities.

She voiced hope that Vietnamese communities abroad would continue to support the homeland and make stronger contributions as the country enters a new phase of prosperous development.

The 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam will run from January 19 to January 25 at the National Convention Center in Hanoi's Tu Liem Ward.

Nearly 600 journalists and technicians from 113 Vietnamese media outlets, along with 79 journalists and press assistants from 43 foreign news agencies and media organizations, including overseas Vietnamese reporters, are expected to cover the congress.

The congress press center, inaugurated on January 14, features more than 150 computers, 10 printers, two fax machines, 10 large-screen televisions, modern data systems and high-speed internet connections to support the work of domestic and international journalists.
