Vietnam faces challenges from serious Covid-19 situation: PM
It is imperative for the authorities to address concern of the business community and people, while creating a favorable and fair business environment for all economic components, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has said.
Vietnam is facing challenges from the current serious Covid-19 situation, which requires strong efforts from the entire political system in realizing the twin targets of containing the pandemic and boosting economic recovery.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stressed the view in a monthly government meeting on May 5.
“The focus would be to improve legal environment and policies in priority fields to meet the country’s requirements for development in the next period,” said Chinh, requesting the setup of criteria and standards in state management for greater decentralization with clear responsibilities for each individual in the implementation process afterwards.
Chinh requested government agencies to better manage monetary and fiscal policies in line with actual situation to aid growth and stabilize macro-economic conditions.
“It is imperative for the authorities to address concern of the business community and people, while creating a favorable and fair business environment for all economic components,” the PM stated.
Chinh expected specific measures from each locality and ministry in speeding up public investment, which continues to serve as key measures to boost economic recovery.
In this regard, the Mekong delta region, the central highlands and other key economic zones should be allocated sufficient funds to build projects of high spillover effects for growth, especially in the transportation fields, to realize the growth potential of these regions.
“Mobilizing social resources is necessary to finance such projects, and eventually more private investments would follow,” Chinh asserted.
Chinh assigned the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) to propose additional measures to support people affected by the pandemic, particularly vulnerable groups, with clear and transparent criteria.
