Vietnam is among top destinations for Australian tourists

Vietnam tops the list for meaningful adventures among Australian travelers.

THE HANOI TIMES — Australian tourists have chosen Vietnam as their new favorite overseas destination thanks to the country's high-quality travel experiences and reasonable costs, according to a recent Sky News Australia article.

The article cited the latest figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), which showed that the number of Australians visiting Vietnam in the first quarter of 2025 had surged by 54% compared to the same period in 2019, outpacing all other international destinations.

The article highlighted that Vietnam offers high-quality travel experiences at a fraction of the cost of other popular destinations.

Nicole Newport, Regional Sales Director for Oceania at InsideAsia Tours, said there is 'clear evidence' that Vietnam is rapidly becoming a favorite travel destination for Australians, a trend that she believes will continue in the coming years.

She said that more travelers than ever are now seeking meaningful cultural adventures that go beyond the typical tourist trail.

Another factor contributing to Vietnam’s appeal is the favorable exchange rate between the Australian dollar and the Vietnamese dong. Travellers are enjoying greater benefits thanks to the Australian dollar’s steady appreciation against the Vietnamese dong in recent months.

"The most searched destinations include Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Danang, Ha Long Bay, and Hoi An," the article included.
