Vietnam launches fundraising program to support Cubans 

The program aims to support Cuban people with essential goods, medical supplies, and projects that promote sustainable development and solidarity.

THE HANOI TIMES — The Vietnam Red Cross Society launched the “65 Years of Vietnam – Cuba Solidarity” fundraising program as part of the “Vietnam – Cuba Friendship Year 2025” and to mark 65 years of diplomatic ties.

Running from August 13 to October 16, 2025, the program aims to raise at least VND65 billion (US$2.47 million) to support the Cuban people.

It targets children, the elderly, and vulnerable groups facing hardships from Covid -19, natural disasters, and the embargo.

The program focuses on supplying medical materials, delivering essential goods, and fostering sustainable development cooperation.

The campaign seeks contributions from individuals, communities, and businesses, both domestic and international. Donors can give via QR codes, public collection boxes, mobile apps, or the Vietnam Red Cross website. Schools will organize creative activities, including letter-writing and “small plan” fundraisers for Cuban children.

Established on December 2, 1960, Vietnam – Cuba relations remain a symbol of loyal and enduring solidarity.

The program carries deep humanitarian meaning and aims to further strengthen this special bond to achieve comprehensive, effective and sustainable growth.
