Vietnam makes final preparations for international diplomatic event

The last rehearsal for the opening ceremony of the long-awaited 132nd Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly (IPU-132) was held at the National Assembly headquarters in Hanoi on March 15.

IPU-132 is a significant diplomatic event, requiring detailed logistical preparation and a strong security strategy.
National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung reviewed the dress rehearsal after it had taken place, and praised the effort and proactive preparation made by every participating organisation.
He underscored that preparation for the event is especially important as it will leave an indelible impression on international partners. The aim is to show Vietnam as a forward-looking and peaceful country with friendly and hospitable people.

Themed “Sustainable Development Goals: Turning Words into Actions”, the assembly will feature a plenary session, meetings between standing committees, a summit of female parliamentarians and a forum of young legislators.
Other events will include meetings of the Association of General Secretaries of Parliaments, different geo-political groups and bilateral discussions between guests.
