Vietnam – Mongolia friendship proved over six decades

The long-lasting friendship will be enhanced with a focus on cooperation in trade, tourism, and culture.

Vietnam and Mongolia have celebrated the 65th anniversary of bilateral ties this month, considering the long-lasting friendship is a valuable legacy which has been built up by efforts in different aspects of life.

The relationship marks the cooperation in politics, economy, culture, education, and people-to-people exchange, contributing significantly to each country’s economic development.

The ties have been enhanced with the broader cooperation between localities which signed memorandums of understanding on trade, investment, and tourism.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Mongolia Doan Thi Huong said at the anniversary held in Ulaanbaatar earlier this week that the bilateral ties would be tightened with lots of activities in 2019, including the 17th Joint Governmental Meeting focusing on boosting trade with the import and export of farm produce, and intensifying cooperation on agriculture, extractive industry, tourism, education among others.

Politically, Vietnam and Mongolia continue supporting each other at international forums of which both countries are members, contributing to regional peace and stability. Vietnam supports Mongolia in expanding its regional integration into the Asia-Pacific, the ambassador said.

Mongolian Foreign Minister Damdin Tsogtbaatar said at the event that the bilateral relations have been continuously strengthened with valuable support between the two friends for each other, mostly in hardship, over the past 65 years.

He said Mongolia will boost the high-ranking exchange visits including legislation bodies meanwhile both sides will support the two countries’ businesses for deepened economic ties.

Secretary of National Security Council P. Sundev, who is former Mongolian Ambassador to Vietnam, said Vietnam is Mongolia’s loyal friend which Ulaanbaatar wishes to boot relations with, mostly in agriculture, tourism, culture, and education.

He noted that Vietnamese people’s hard-working characteristic is a good example for Mongolian people who are changing from nomadic culture to settlement to learn from.

Ambassador Doan Thi Huong said the anniversary is also a chance to affirm Vietnam’s commitment to boost the relationship.
