Vietnam National Assembly’s 4th session opened today

The session runs between October 20 and November 15.

The 4th session of the 15th National Assembly (NA) started today [October 20] to discuss the country’s major issues during the remainder of the year.

The 4th session of the 15th National Assembly (NA) started today [October 20] to discuss the legislative work for the rest of the year and the country's main issues.


In the morning, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh presented reports on the implementation of socio-economic development targets in 2022 and the plan for 2023, followed by a review of these issues by the Chairman of the NA's Economic Committee Vu Hong Thanh.


The NA then listened to voters' opinions and the outcomes of addressing voters' petitions submitted during the NA's previous session.


NA delegates also discussed the budget execution in 2022, budget allocation for 2023 and budget plan for the 2023-2025 period. They debated the revised Law on Anti-money laundering; and specific mechanisms for Buon Ma Thuot city, Dak Lak Province.


A closed-door discussion is scheduled to discuss the release of Auditor General Tran Sy Thanh from his duties for the 2021-2026 term as he was appointed Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee; the release from duties of Minister of Transport Nguyen Van The for the 2021-2026 term due to personal reasons.


Discussion sessions on socio-economic issues will be held for two days, on October 27-28. A highlight is the interpellation session from November 3-5, focusing on internal affairs, construction, IT, science-technology, inspection, and justice.


Also, at the 4th session, the NA would consider approving seven bills and three draft resolutions, including the revised Law on Petroleum; the Law on Domestic Violence Prevention and Control; the Law on Inspection; the Law on Implementation of Democracy at the Grassroots level; Law on Radio Frequencies; Law on Health Treatment; and Law on Anti-money laundering.


The 4th session is set to wrap up on November 15, after 21 working days.
