Passengers able to use VNeID for domestic flight formalities as of August 2

All airports in Vietnam will allow passengers to use the VNeID application instead of their chip-based ID card for boarding procedures for domestic flights. VNeID is equivalent to a passport or other international travel documents. 

All Vietnamese in Niger safe and sound: Vietnamese Embassy in Algeria

All Vietnamese in Niger are safe and sound following the military coup on July 26, according to the Vietnamese Embassy in Algeria, which is also accredited to Niger. The embassy has taken diplomatic measures to protect 30 Vietnamese living in Niger, and none of them have been affected by the political incident.

Any Vietnamese in need of assistance can call and text the embassy through its hotline +213558305909 and Facebook fan page. They are advised not to travel unless absolutely necessary.

Vietnam and the Philippines agree to strengthen maritime cooperation

Deputy Foreign Ministers of Vietnam and the Philippines Do Hung Viet and Theresa P. Lazaro agreed on August 1 to strengthen bilateral efforts and resolve maritime issues, especially those related to fishermen, following ASEAN rules. The two deputy ministers also pledged to support each other in international bodies such as ASEAN and the United Nations.

The officials believed that strengthening bilateral relations would help the two nations cope with future challenges and foster sustainable growth.

100% of Vietnamese talents trained in science and technology by 2050

The Vietnamese Government aims to have 100% of talent in science and technology by 2050. This goal is in the National Strategy for Attracting and Retaining Talents to 2030, with a vision for 2050 approved by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

By the end of June 2024, all ministries, sectors and localities will implement their plans in line with the national strategy and practical requirements in key industries where they have advantages, including science and technology, education and training, culture, social sciences, healthcare, information and communication, and digital transformation.

Vietnamese at highest risk for stroke

Vietnam is one of the countries having the highest risk of stroke in the world, with an estimated rate of more than 218 cases per 100,000 people. Treatment facilities are still scarce, according to Nguyen Huy Thang, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Stroke Association. 

He added that about 200,000 Vietnamese of the 100 million population suffer strokes each year.
