Vietnamese beef stew among the world’s best 100 breakfast dishes

Bo kho (Vietnamese beef stew) is the sixth best breakfast in the world, according to a ranking announced July 24 by global cuisine website TasteAtlas. The world food atlas describes the dish as one that can be eaten on its own, accompanied by a baguette, or served over noodles.

Other Vietnamese dishes in the top 100 best breakfasts include banh cuon (steamed rice rolls stuffed with pork and mushrooms) and bun bo Hue (Hue breakfast noodle soup).

Survey reveals top factors for Vietnamese travelers' international travel

The Global Tourism Survey 2023, conducted by Singapore-based TGM Research, revealed the top three factors Vietnamese travelers consider when planning their international trips: 29% prioritize free time to relax, 26% consider cost and affordability, and 32% seek local cultural and historical experiences.

This survey, which spanned 21 countries across six continents, provides a unique opportunity to tap into consumers' collective yearning for adventure around the world, fostering a renewed sense of connection and reigniting the wanderlust in their souls.

International running race in Can Tho attracts 5,000 athletes

About 5,000 runners have registered for the Can Tho International Heritage Marathon on December 3, 2023. The organizer expects a total of 7,000 runners to compete in all four categories of 42km, 21km, 10km, and 5km.

The event is part of a series of activities to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Can Tho's establishment as a first-tier city, and to promote the values and image of the city and the MekongDelta.

Vietnam expects to extract 2 million tons of rare earths per year by 2030

Vietnam's annual rare earth output is expected to reach two million tons by 2030, according to a national master plan on mineral exploration and processing. After 2030, annual rare earth production will be increased by 100,000 tons per year. A processing plant in the Northern province of Yen Bai will be operational within seven years.

Vietnam has the world's second largest rare earth reserves of about 22 million tons, after China (44 million tons). The global market for rare earths is estimated at US$1 trillion.

Vietnam's active monthly mobile app users exceed 500 million in H1

Vietnam's active monthly users on mobile apps exceeded 500 million in the first half of 2023, up 16% from the same period in 2022, according to the National Committee on Digital Transformation. On average, each Vietnamese user spends 64 hours per month using mobile apps. 

The committee said more domestic digital platforms and apps have been created with increasingly better user experience.

Vietnamese companies prioritize hiring for cybersecurity, data analysis roles

Vietnamese companies are increasingly looking for talent in software development, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, digital platform development, and data analysis, according to Adecco's Vietnam labor market update for the first half of 2023.

Meanwhile, demand for hiring in the finance and banking, marketing and communications sectors remains steady.
