Vietnam listed among 21 wealthiest nations in Asia

Vietnam ranks 16th among the 21 wealthiest nations in Asia, according to Credit Suisse's Global Wealth Databook 2022. Vietnam's total wealth in 2021 was US$985 billion, making it one of the fastest-growing economies among Asian nations and territories in the 21st century, followed by Pakistan (US$640 billion), Malaysia (US$615 billion), Kuwait (US$545 billion) and Qatar (US$445 billion). The wealth is calculated as of 2021 based on the value of financial and non-financial assets while subtracting debt.

Vietnam, UAE work on bilateral comprehensive economic agreement

Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi to discuss the bilateral Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and strengthen cooperation in trade and investment. He encouraged UAE businesses to invest in Vietnam in sectors such as renewable energy, logistics, and healthcare.

Vietnam is one of the UAE's largest trading partners, accounting for 30% of the UAE's trade with Southeast Asia.

About 105,000 new trading accounts opened in May

Domestic investors in Vietnam opened nearly 105,000 new securities trading accounts in May, five times more than in April. As of the end of May, the number of retail investor accounts in the country exceeded seven million, and the number of institutional investors stood at 15,000. The increase in new individual accounts is attributed to improved market liquidity in May.

Exhibition tells stories of Vietnam's seas

An exhibition entitled "Youth with the Homeland's Sea and Islands" opened on June 5 in Tam Ky City, Quang Ngai Province, to raise public awareness, resolve Vietnam's sovereignty over its seas and islands, and commemorate the heroic sacrifices made by the Vietnamese people to protect them. 

The exhibition, which runs until June 10, features 152 documents and photos depicting Vietnam's sovereignty over Hoang Sa (Paracel) and activities to protect the country's sovereignty over seas and islands.

Vietnamese, French foreign ministers agree to strengthen ties

Vietnamese Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son met with his French counterpart Catherine Colonna on June 5 for the first ministerial-level exchange between the two nations in a decade. The two ministers agreed to carry out key activities to take bilateral relations to new heights in the future, such as exchanging high-level government leaders and officials and boosting bilateral trade.

The two ministers vowed to further cooperate and support each other in multilateral conferences and ensure security, peace, and safety in the East Sea (South China Sea).
