Vietnam named among top destinations in Southeast Asia

Vietnam is among the seven best countries to visit in Southeast Asia, with April and September being the ideal months for tourists, according to The Independent. The UK newsroom’s article suggests travelers explore the ancient town of Hoi An, the world heritage of Ha Long Bay, and the world’s largest natural cave Son Doong Cave for natural attractions.

The region's diverse cultural and religious traditions make it a unique and fascinating destination.

Localities, enterprises honored for digital transformation and innovation

Vietnam's "Top Industry 4.0 Vietnam - I4.0 Awards" on May 27 recognized seven provinces and cities, 65 businesses, and 79 digital products and solutions for their effectiveness in digital transformation and innovation. The event is expected to drive digital transformation and promote Vietnam's digital economy. The awarded businesses are seen as a foundation for realizing Vietnam's goal of becoming a digital nation.

The awards ceremony was organized by Vietnam's Union of Science and Technology Associations, the Vietnam Automation Association, and the Institute for Creativity and Digital Transformation.

Ninh Binh’s annual tourism week begins

The annual Ninh Binh tourism week, themed “The Golden Colour of Tam Coc - Trang An”, began on May 27 in Vietnam. The event aims to promote Ninh Binh's unique tourism resources, including the UNESCO-recognized Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex.

Visitors can enjoy a 9,500 sq.m rice painting, traditional handicraft items, and unique culinary culture. Ninh Binh hopes to welcome 5.35 million visitors this year, contributing to transforming tourism into a key economic sector.

Ho Chi Minh City opens largest water show

Van Phuc Water Show, the largest water show in Vietnam, has been inaugurated in Ho Chi Minh City. The show features a 120-meter arched structure, an 80-meter by 12-meter light projection, and over 50 types of water jets that can reach up to 60 meters in height. It can accommodate up to 5,000 people and is scheduled to run on weekends and during major holidays.

The VND200 billion (US$8.5 million) project covers a 6,000m2 area. Ticket prices have not yet been announced.

Vietnamese cultures impress Prague’s ethnic minorities' festival

Vietnam's traditional drum dance, Hue royal court music, and fan dance made a strong impression at the Ethnic Minorities Festival held in Prague, Czech Republic, on May 27 (local time). The festival showcased the unique cultural values of over 30 delegations from 20 countries after being suspended for four years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The event provides an excellent opportunity for the Vietnamese community to promote their cultural heritage, and strengthen their integration into Czech society, marking the 10th year Vietnamese people became an ethnic group in the Czech Republic.

Social network monetarization frauds to be cracked down

Vietnam has the highest rate of social-network monetization fraud in the world, and the Government is taking measures to combat illegal content and advertising on the internet. They are working with TV manufacturers to disable the YouTube button on remote controls and require them not to install applications that violate the law.

The Ministry of Information and Communications has published a whitelist and blacklist of verified and illegal content. It is implementing measures to identify and sanction individuals and organizations that use telecommunications networks to commit illegal acts.

Boeing promises assistance for Vietnam's supporting industry

Boeing has opened a representative office in Vietnam and plans to invest in the country's supporting industry by developing aircraft parts and equipment supply chains. The company also aims to deepen its trade relations with local airlines and collaborate on transport projects to promote Vietnam's aerospace industry. The investment will help local businesses participate in the global value chain.

Boeing will participate in the upcoming Vietnam Sourcing 2023 event to explore potential collaboration opportunities with local partners and support the development of the country's supporting industry.

Vietnam to cut rice exports to boost quality and reduce reliance

Vietnam plans to cut rice exports to four million tons by 2030 from 7.1 million tons in 2020, diversifying export markets to reduce dependence on any single country. Accordingly, the export value will fall to US$2.62 billion in 2030 from the current US$3.45 billion. The move aims to boost high-quality rice exports, domestic food security, and climate change adaptation. The focus is on producing fragrant, glutinous rice, reducing low-quality grain production to 15% by 2025 and 10% by 2030.

Rice exports in Jan-Apr 2021 rose 40.7% from a year earlier to 2.9 million tons.

Vietnam to launch carbon credit exchange in 2028

Vietnam plans to launch a carbon credit exchange in 2025, with official operation starting in 2028. Carbon credits are tradable certificates that represent the right to emit greenhouse gases. Vietnam's forest resources, covering 14.7 million hectares, are expected to contribute to reducing emissions and developing the domestic carbon market. A mandatory market will be created by 2027, with regulations on emissions reduction targets and carbon credit trading.

The forestry sector is negotiating with international organizations to establish pilot projects for carbon credit transfers.
