Vietnamese warned to stay away from Israel, Iran and Lebanon

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has warned people to stay away from Lebanon, Iran and Israel due to the tense situation in the region. Cultural space inaugurated in honor of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong

A cultural space on General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was opened in the central coastal city of Danang on August 5. The month-long event aims to pay tribute to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's outstanding contributions to the Party and the Vietnamese revolution, and to celebrate the 94th anniversary of the Communist Review, the political theory organ of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (August 5, 1930 - August 5, 2024). The exhibition displays books, articles and materials on the life of the General Secretary to inspire the youth with his spirit of patriotism, learning and unity.

 

Vietnam, Japan localities ink agricultural growth deal

 

The southern Mekong province of Vinh Long and the Japanese province of Niigata signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on agricultural growth on August 5. Under the agreement, the two provinces will conduct pilot planting of a new rice variety in Vinh Long, join global efforts to reduce methane emissions from agricultural production, promote rice import and export, and exchange agricultural human resources. To date, Japan is the largest foreign investor in Vinh Long with 11 projects totaling over US$413 million in registered capital.

 

Vietnam's fisheries export in July highest since early 2024

Vietnam’s fisheries export revenue in July grew 14% year-on-year to over US$885 million, the highest recorded since early 2024. Shipment to four major buyers recovered in July, with  China up 30%, the US up 14%, the EU 14% and Japan 11%. The US and the EU are expected to be promising markets for frozen products in the second half of the year.

Vietnamese, Thai localities promote cooperation

Vietnam's central province of Quang Tri and Thailand's Mukdahan province signed a cooperation plan for 2025-2030 in Dong Ha City on August 5. The cooperation plan covers various fields, including economy, investment, trade and tourism, education, labor, human resources development, and communication. Quang Tri and Mukdahan signed a cooperation document in January 2005 and have conducted exchanges in many fields, bringing benefits and development to both sides.

UNESCO conference commits to environmental sustainability

UNESCO's Ha Long Statement on Heritage Conservation  and Sustainability was announced at a conference in the northern province of Quang Ninh on August 5. It commits UNESCO members to promote sustainable economic models, improve the quality of life and develop environmentally friendly economic policies. The two-day event was attended by 40 UNESCO member states.

 

Cultural heritage exhibition to be held in November

An exhibition of cultural heritage, natural resources and traditional handicrafts will be held in the central province of Nghe An from November 22 to 26. The event, organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, will include many activities, such as an exhibition of tangible and intangible cultural heritage recognized by UNESCO, an exhibition of some of President Ho Chi Minh's poems, and a space showcasing tea products of the provinces. It will attract the participation of 24 localities.

Binh Duong takes steps to become a first-tier city by 2030

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha has signed a decision approving Binh Duong Province's master plan for 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050. According to the plan, the province will become a first-tier city by 2030, a hub of modern industrial services, and one of the dynamic development centers in Southeast Asia. 

It will also take the lead in science, technology and innovation, with a synchronized, modern, smart and sustainable socio-economic infrastructure system urban infrastructure that follows a green growth model, adapts to climate change and protects the environment.

 

Danang promotes tourism with TikTok Shop Creator Retreat

More than 100 pioneering content creators attended the TikTok Shop Creator Retreat on August 5, hosted by Danang City and TikTok Vietnam, to promote Danang's unique culture and tourism to its millions of followers. The program gives content creators the opportunity to experience and share local cuisine, scenery, and activities. The retreat helped enhance the city's image, reach a wider audience, and promote tourism.

Government plans to cut interest rates for social housing buyers

Interest rates on loans for social housing buyers may be reduced to 3-5% per year, Deputy Minister of Construction Bui Xuan Dung said on August 5. The proposal is aimed at giving buyers access to cheap loans. The interest rate for buying low-cost houses is now 4.8% per year. By the end of July, banks had disbursed more than VND1.3 trillion (US$55 million) in loans. Since 2021, 619 social housing projects with over 561,800 units have been implemented nationwide, including 79 completed projects that have brought about 40,700 apartments to the market.
