Thailand extends work permits for Vietnamese workers

Thailand has announced a three-month extension for Vietnamese workers' permits (until May 13, 2025) to complete necessary procedures. Eligible workers can stay until February 13, 2026. Employers must submit the required list by February 13, 2025, to prevent any disruptions in the process.

The United Nations recognizes Vietnam's leadership in technology and innovation

United Nations Deputy Secretary-General Amandeep Singh Gill praised Vietnam’s progress in digital transformation, AI, and cybersecurity during a meeting with Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Head of Vietnam’s Permanent Mission to the UN in New York on February 5. He highlighted Vietnam’s potential as a global AI hub, backed by a strong team of experts and active engagement in UN initiatives. Vietnam remains committed to contributing to UN mechanisms.

Vietnamese fruit expands presence at global trade fair

The “Fruit of Vietnam” pavilion marks its fifth year at Fruit Logistica 2025, a leading global fruit and vegetable trade fair in Berlin. Featuring over 2,600 exhibitors from nearly 100 countries. Thai Binh to invest US$200 million in 25km road

The northern province of Thai Binh plans to invest nearly VND5 trillion (US$200 million) in a 25-km road connecting its localities and Hung Yen Province. Scheduled for 2025-2028, the project aims to enhance trade, improve connectivity with Hanoi and neighboring provinces, and boost socio-economic growth.

Quang Nam launches bus route connecting Hoi An and My Son

The central province of Quang Nam plans a 98-km tourist bus route connecting UNESCO-recognized heritage sites of Hoi An and My Son, and Dong Giang Haven Gate, with at least four trips daily to boost regional connectivity and tourism. Hoi An Ancient Town is a remarkably well-preserved South-East Asian trading port that dates back to the 15th to 19th centuries. Meanwhile, My Son Sanctuary dated from the 4th to 13th centuries, is a unique Hindu-inspired culture flourished in coastal Vietnam, exemplified by impressive tower-temples.

Vietnam reports US$3 billion trade surplus in January

Vietnam posted a US$3.03- billion trade surplus in January. The total trade turnover in the month was US$63.15 billion, down 3.5% from last year. The US was Vietnam's biggest export market with US$9.8 billion, while China was the largest import market with US$11.6 billion.

Kien Giang listed among the world's top 10 friendliest destinations

The southern province of Kien Giang is voted as one of the world's top 10 friendliest destinations in the 13th Traveller Review Awards along with other destinations such as Bretagne (France), South Australia (Australia), and Graubünden (Switzerland),.. The ranking was based on data from over 360 million verified customer reviews on Booking.com.

Traffic violations and accidents decrease after new decree enforcement

Traffic violations and accidents in Vietnam have significantly decreased after one month of enforcing Decree 168/2024. National Traffic Police force handled 327,349 violations, down 48,160 cases (12.8%) on year. Drunk driving dropped by 10,484 cases (13%), overspeeding by 1,545 cases (2.1%), and overloaded vehicles by 3,564 cases (44%). Road accidents fell to 1,702 cases, down 26.3%.

Business reopenings in January rise 65% on year

As many as 22,800 businesses resumed operations in January, up 65.2% year-on-year. Nearly 10,700 new businesses were established in Vietnam, with a total registered capital of VND94 trillion ($3.8 billion) in January, down 30.3% year-on-year.
