Tan Son Nhat Airport sees throughput of 150,000 passengers today

Tan Son Nhat Airport handled more than 150,000 passengers on January 24, the highest since the start of the 2025 Lunar New Year peak season. A total of 1,002 flights were operated, exceeding the initial forecast of 970. Departing passengers from Ho Chi Minh City totaled 96,000, with peak hours between 3am and 5am. International passengers numbered over 56,000.

Ho Chi Minh City hosts exhibition to celebrate 95 years of the Party
The photo exhibition "95 Years - Proud of Our Party", which runs from January 24 to February 9, celebrates the 95th anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam. With more than 200 photos in various locations, it highlights the Party's history and the city's progress, attracting many visitors.

Vietnam's e-commerce hits USD 13.82 billion in 2024

YouNet ECI reported that the value of e-commerce transactions in Vietnam reached US$13.82 billion in 2024, up 40% from 2023. Shopee and TikTok Shop are the two leading platforms, accounting for 66.7% and 26.9% of the market share, respectively. The fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector grew by 62%, ranking second in importance in consumers' online shopping carts after fashion and accessories. This shows the shift towards online shopping habits of Vietnamese consumers in 2024.

Vietnam - Laos 500kV transmission line successfully energized

The Monsoon - Thanh My 500kV transmission line project section on Vietnamese territory was successfully energized on the evening of January 23. The project has a total investment of more than US$44 million. Upon completion of the Monsoon section in Laos, the project is expected to transport approximately 1.7 billion kWh per year.

Vietnamese exports to Cambodia reach US$6.2 billion in 2024

The Department of Import and Export under the Ministry of Industry and Trade reported that trade with Cambodia touched a record US$6.2 billion in 2024, up 20.2% year-on-year. Rice led the surge, surpassing US$2.6 billion, an increase of 48.9%. Other major commodities included machinery, cement, coffee and mobile phones.

Vietnam broadband speed hits 130.91 Mbps

The Vietnam Internet Report 2024 shows significant improvements in broadband download speeds, with fixed broadband reaching 130.91 Mbps in December, the highest in 2024. The number of .vn domain names surpassed 630,500, ranking 2nd in ASEAN and top 10 in Asia-Pacific. Vietnam aims to reach 1 million .vn domain names by 2025.

FPT reports 2024 revenue of US$2.6 billion

FPT Group, Vietnam's largest telecommunications technology company, reached US$2.6 billion in revenue in 2024, exceeding targets with a 19% year-on-year growth. The technology sector contributed 62% of revenue, while overseas IT services grew 27% to US$1.3 billion.
