2024 Mekong Workshop highlights agricultural innovation

The Mekong Regional Agricultural Extension Workshop 2024, held July 24-26 in Ha Long, Vietnam, brought together representatives from Mekong countries to discuss climate change, agroecology, and digitalization. The event focused on sharing the latest developments in advisory services to support smallholder farmers, highlighting the importance of agricultural extension in enhancing food security and rural livelihoods in the Mekong region.

Vietnamese lychees sold out in Costco Australia

Vietnamese lychees sold out quickly at Costco in Western and South Australia, with retail prices around VND500,000/kg (US$22.5/kg). The Vietnam Trade Office and 4waysfresh, a Vietnamese national-owned fruit company in Australia, held a tasting event at Costco in Adelaide last weekend, marking the debut of Vietnamese lychees at Costco Australia. The wholesale price at Costco in Adelaide was VND296,000/kg (US$12.2/kg).

77 Years - Full Love Exhibition opens in Hue City

The "77 Years - Full Love" exhibition was inaugurated on July 24 at the Chin Ham Historical Relic in the central province of Thua Thien Hue.

The seven-day event features nearly 80 typical historical images and documents on the theme of Vietnam's War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27) and the government's care for war invalids, martyrs and people with meritorious service to the revolution.

Government issues new directive on land inventory 

From August 1, ministries and agencies will collect data on land resources managed by local authorities across the country and monitor compliance with land laws. Land inventory reporting will be completed by September 30, 2025.

Over US$1 million to support reproductive health of Vietnamese youth

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Vietnam launched a project on July 24 to support the sexual and reproductive health of Vietnamese youth.

With a total budget of over US$1.05 million, the project aims to create an enabling environment for youth development, focus on life skills and sexuality education, and strengthen youth participation in policy-making.

Bilingual book honors Vietnam's national treasures

A Vietnamese-English book titled "Thousand Years of Vietnamese National Civilization" has been published to showcase national treasures and contribute to honoring them and promoting their values.

Durian exports earn more than US$1.3 billion in H1 2024

Vietnam earned more than US$1.3 billion from shipping durian overseas in the first six months of 2024, up 40% year-on-year. The country harvests durian throughout the year, which is a competitive advantage over other countries.

Can Tho smart city project receives US$29 million from JICA

The project "Enhancing Land Management Capacity for Smart City Development in Can Tho" has a total investment of VND695.52 billion (US$29 million). Announced on July 24, it will run from 2025 to 2028 and aims to develop a smart city model through digital land management.
