Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh leads tribute to martyrs

In honor of War Invalids and Martyrs Day, Vietnamese leaders visited cemeteries and expressed gratitude to veterans and families of fallen soldiers. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized the priority of policies for those who have served the nation. Meanwhile, localities organized activities to support veterans and their families, reflecting the tradition of "Drink water, remember the source". 

Quang Nam celebrates 120th birthday of Heroic Mother Nguyen Thi Thu

Quang Nam Province held a ceremony on July 27 in Dien Ban City to commemorate the 120th birthday of heroic Vietnamese mother Nguyen Thi Thu. Born in 1904, Mother Nguyen Thi Thu lost nine sons, one son-in-law, and two grandchildren during the wars. The event featured an artistic program titled "Mother's Legend - Immortal Monument" and included offering incense and flowers at the provincial martyrs' cemetery, Mother Vietnam Hero Monument, and Nguyen Thi Thu Memorial House in honor of her immense sacrifices and contributions.

Rung Sac Martyrs Temple inaugurated to honor war heroes

The Rung Sac Martyrs' Temple in Can Gio District was inaugurated on July 27 to commemorate the 77th anniversary of the War Invalids and Martyrs' Day. Completed in eight months at a cost of VND70 billion, the temple covers an area of 2.2 hectares and honors the heroes who sacrificed their lives during the war. Rung Sac (Can Gio) was one of the fiercest battlefields during the resistance against the Americans.

Cam Ranh Lobster Festival 2024 to take place in early August

The Cam Ranh Lobster Festival will be held from August 3 to 11 in Cam Ranh, the capital of Khanh Hoa Province. This aims to promote lobster products, expand the supply chain, and name Cam Ranh as a lobster culinary destination.

Japanese dolls on display in Hoi An

An exhibition of 29 kinds of traditional dolls opened on July 27 in UNESCO-recognized Hoi An Ancient Town. As part of a series of activities to mark the 20th anniversary of the Hoi An - Japan cultural exchange, the nine-day exhibition will introduce the traditional and unique culture of this East Asian country to the Vietnamese people and promote friendship between the two countries. In Japanese culture, dolls represent luck, peace, and happiness.

Ho Chi Minh City International Tourism Fair to focus on sustainable tourism

The 18th Ho Chi Minh City International Tourism Fair (ITE HCMC 2024) will run from September 5 to 7 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC). With about 220 international companies from 40 countries and territories, the event themed "Sustainable Tourism, Creating the Future" is expected to raise awareness about sustainable tourism, showcase eco-friendly products, and boost business connections.

Quang Nam hosts international kite festival

The Quang Nam International Kite Festival, held from July 27 to 29, features teams from 13 countries displaying about 100 different kites. The festival aims to become an annual cultural, artistic, and tourism event. Highlights include artistic kite performances, vibrant kite displays, LED kite flying, live music, kite-making classes, cuisine, and dance performances.

Vietnam attracts US$18 billion FDI in January-July

Vietnam's foreign direct investment (FDI) rose 11% year-on-year to more than US$18 billion between January and July, according to the Ministry of Planning and Investment. Singapore led the investors with nearly US$6.5 billion, a rise of 80% year-on-year, followed by Hong Kong (China) with more than US$2.2 billion, doubling from the same period last year.
