Vietnam's image promoted at ASEAN Youth Cultural Forum

A Vietnamese delegation attended the 19th ASEAN Youth Cultural Forum and the 9th ASEAN+3 Youth Cultural Forum organized by the ASEAN University Network in Bandar Seri Begawan from June 23 to 28.

Vietnamese representatives brought traditional and modern performances to showcase the country's traditional culture and costumes.

The Youth Cultural Forum helped ASEAN youth gain experience and become key actors in preserving and promoting ASEAN's artistic heritage, thus contributing to the region's cultural identity.

 

Vietnam listed among the world's cheapest countries for retirement

Vietnam has been ranked the 6th cheapest country in the world to retire in by US magazine Travel + Leisure.

According to the magazine, Vietnam is a very affordable place to retire, with the overall cost of living about 59% lower than in the US and rents about 79% lower, depending on location. In addition, many of Vietnam's major cities, such as Hanoi, Danang and Ho Chi Minh City, are considered attractive tourist destinations, with convenient transport, affordable prices and plenty to see and do.

Dak Nong Global Geopark designation revalidated

The UNESCO Global Geopark designation of the Dak Nong Geopark, in Vietnam’s central highlands province of Dak Nong, has been validated for another four years of 2024-2027.

The designation recognizes Dak Nong's efforts to protect and promote the values of the Geopark and provides an opportunity to attract resources for the sustainable development of the province. The Geopark is known for its biodiversity, rich tropical forest ecosystem and traces of prehistoric man.

Hanoi names 22 new streets

The Hanoi People's Council has passed a resolution to name 22 new streets and roads, while extending the length of three streets.

Some of the major streets and roads to be named are Phuong Bai in Ha Dong District, Cu Khoi in Long Bien District, Ly Dam Nghien in Hoai Duc District, Phu Luu Te in My Duc District and Quang Liet in Thanh Tri District. The three extended streets are Huynh Thuc Khang and Phao Dai Lang in Dong Da District and Le Mat in Long Bien District.

Danang Asian Film Festival 2024 kicks off

The 2nd Danang Asian Film Festival opened on July 2 in the central coastal city of Danang. The festival, which runs until July 6, honors outstanding, humane and creative cinematic products. It features various activities such as a filmmaker-audience talk show, filmmaking workshops, and screenings of 63 films. Highlights include the Asian and Vietnamese Film Competition and the new Achievement in Cinema category, which recognizes significant contributions to national cinema.

 

Binh Duong Province hosts first advertising festival

The first Vietnam Advertising Festival will be held in the southern province of Binh Duong from July 11-13, highlighting the importance of advertising and Vietnam's cultural industries. The event will feature forums, exhibitions and workshops on cultural industries and advertising technologies and solutions.

In 2022, advertising revenues in Vietnam will reach nearly US$2.2 billion. From 2018 to 2022, the sector grew by an average of 6.3% per year, ranking second in growth rate among ASEAN countries.

Government calls for proactive measures against rainy season

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang sent an urgent directive to 13 northern mountainous provinces on 2 July to prepare measures and respond to heavy rains. According to weather forecasts, heavy rains will hit northern Vietnam from July 2 to 4, causing floods and landslides in the northern region.

The 13 provinces, including Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Ha Giang and Son La, have been asked to coordinate with ministries and government agencies to prevent casualties and property damage during the rainy season.
