Vietnam sets cybersecurity benchmark for 1st time
Vietnam has released TCVN 14423:2025, its first national cybersecurity standard for critical information systems. Designed for practical application, the standard is aligned with global frameworks such as ISO/IEC 27001 and NIST SP 800-53, and is aimed at enhancing the country's digital defenses. A student cybersecurity competition featuring AI challenges has also been launched to nurture future talent in this field.
Vietnam accelerates transport infrastructure to meet 2025 target
Vietnam is expediting key infrastructure projects to fulfill its goal of completing 3,000 kilometers of expressways by the year-end. Current projects include expressways, Long Thanh Airport, railways, and waterways. Backed by over $3.4 billion in public investment, this push aims to improve national connectivity and attract global investment.
130 booths featured at Vietnam Press Fair 2025
To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, the National Press Festival takes place in Hanoi from June 19 to 21, with 130 booths from 124 press agencies. The event showcases multi-platform journalism integrated with new technologies while including ten thematic sessions on digital transformation, content innovation, and modern media development.

Vietnam Week in Japan showcases Vietnamese culture and exports
Vietnam Week 2025 was launched across 383 AEON stores in Japan, spotlighting Vietnam’s first AEON-branded fresh flower export from June 19 to 22. The event also showcased Vietnamese cuisine, crafts, and fashion. AEON plans to expand Vietnam Week to other Asian markets and sell Vietnamese flowers in 1,000 stores by 2026.
Motorcycle sales in Vietnam rise in Jan-May
Vietnam sold 1.32 million motorcycles from January to May, which is a 20.2% year-on-year increase. Electric motorcycles surged, led by VinFast, which saw a 488% increase. L1 e-bikes saw a 113.1% increase, driven by models such as the VinFast Motio and the Honda ICON:e. Thanks to aggressive price cuts, VinFast now ranks third in market share.
Vietnam pilots first balcony solar project
Vietnam has launched its first balcony solar power project at the Diamond Lotus Riverside development in Ho Chi Minh City. The project is fully funded under the public-private partnership (PPP), involving the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ). The system is expected to generate 52 kWh per month, which covers 17% of a household’s electricity usage. This project is a significant step in promoting urban renewable energy and advancing net-zero goals.
Sun Group invests over US$3.5 billion in Phu Quoc projects
The southern province of Kien Giang has approved three of Sun Group’s projects in Phu Quoc worth over $3.55 billion for APEC 2027. These projects include expanding Phu Quoc International Airport ($870 million), developing the Bai Dat Do urban complex ($2.53 billion), and constructing the Nui Ong Quan eco-resort ($220 million). These projects are expected to elevate Phu Quoc's status as a world-class, dynamic destination.
Five Vietnam hotels named in Travel + Leisure's 2025 Luxury Awards
Five Vietnamese hotels were honored at the 2025 Luxury Awards Asia-Pacific by Travel + Leisure magazine. The Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi was named the best city hotel, the InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula the best island and beach resort, the Anantara Hoi An the best suburban hotel, the JW Marriott Phu Quoc the hotel with the best swimming pool, and the La Veranda Resort Phu Quoc the hotel with the best spa service. The Hoiana Resort & Golf (in Hoi An) also ranked among the top three integrated resorts in the Asia-Pacific region.
