Vietnam's pork production to reach 4.7 million tons by 2030

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development reported that Vietnam's pork production is expected to reach four million tons in 2025 and 4.7 million tons in 2030, with an average growth rate of 3.1% per year. The latest forecast from the US Department of Agriculture, cited by the Vietnam Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), indicates that pork consumption in Vietnam is expected to increase by 28.3% by 2030.

Budget for salary reform to rise to US$35.8 billion in next three years

The total budget to adjust the base salary, pensions, allowances, and bonus funds over the next three years will increase to VND913 trillion (US$35.8 billion), Minister of Interior Pham Thi Thanh Tra told the National Assembly on June 25. The government has proposed a 30% increase in the base salary from VND1.8 million ($70.7) to VND2.34 million ($91.9) per month; a 15% increase in pensions and social security allowances; and the creation of a bonus fund for the public sector equal to 10% of the base salary fund.

The preferential allowance for those with meritorious service will increase by 35.7%, the social assistance grant will increase by 38.9%, and the regional minimum wage will increase by 6%. This is the highest increase in the base salary to date.

Four more products earn five-star OCOP recognition

The central-level One Commune One Product (OCOP) Evaluation and Ranking Council in 2024 recognized four more OCOP products as five-star products: Royal Golden Dragon bean cakes from Hoang Gia JSC (Hai Duong District); Luc Ngan lychee from Hong Xuan Cooperative for Agricultural Production and Service (Bac Giang District); frozen durian from Chanh Thu Company (Ben Tre Province); and complete seasoning from YesHue Manufacturing and Trading Company Limited (Thua Thien - Hue Province). The OCOP program has had a positive impact on rural economic development, particularly in promoting the transformation of rural production towards value chain linkages and the establishment of stable raw material zones.

Vietnam-Japan Festival 2024 to take place in Danang

The Vietnam-Japan Festival 2024 is scheduled to run from July 4 to 7 at East Sea Park in the central city of Danang. The event will feature unique cultural and artistic performances, the Danang - Japan Meeting Conference, an exhibition on the achievements of Vietnam-Japan cooperation, a soccer festival between Kawasaki Frontale Club and Danang youth, and other activities. Since its launch in 2014, the festival has been held eight times. It has attracted more than 35,000 visitors every year.

Vietnam Family Day 2024 launched

Vietnam Family Day 2024, a five-day festival, was launched on June 25 at the Haiphong Information, Exhibition and Cinema Center in the northern city of Haiphong. Under the theme "Happy Family - Prosperous Nation", the festival featured many exciting activities, such as an exhibition of documents, pictures, and artifacts on the care, building, and development of the Vietnamese family by the whole society, a "Mother Love You" exhibition, a room displaying traditional handicrafts for the family, and various other activities.

Vietnam joins the Algiers International Fair 2024

Over 40 Vietnamese companies operating in various fields are showcasing their products at the 55th Algiers International Fair 2024, which will be held in the Algerian capital from June 25 to 29. This event brings together nearly 700 Algerian and foreign exhibitors, including nearly 200 companies from over 30 countries around the world in the fields of energy, construction, agriculture, and industry. Covering an area of nearly 50,000m2, the exhibition is expected to attract up to 400,000 visitors.
