Vietnam, Sweden boost comprehensive cooperation

During Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang’s visit to Sweden from May 20 to May 21, the two countries agreed to strengthen their cooperation in areas such as trade, science, education, culture and defence, and to maintain bilateral relations through regular high-level meetings. Vietnam also expressed its sincere gratitude to Sweden for supporting its war for independence and for development. Sweden is one of the first countries establishing diplomatic ties with Vietnam at an early stage, even before the country’s reunification.

Vietnam showcases semiconductor potential at SEA expo

Vietnam debuted a national pavilion at SEMICON SEA 2025 in Singapore, which ends today, showcasing the country's semiconductor potential and promoted Vietnam as a strategic tech destination. With over 500 firms in attendance, the expo reinforced Vietnam’s efforts to join the global semiconductor supply chain and attract high-tech investment.

Vietnam to improve school zone safety

The “Improving School Zone Infrastructure and Traffic Management” project, which will last from May 22 until March 2027, aims to enhance road safety for students. The project will establish safe school zones, train officials, increase public awareness, and develop national standards to protect children during their daily commutes.

Vietnam launches “Happy Vietnam 2025” media award

In collaboration with the Photographic Artists Association and Vietnam Television, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on May 22 launched the “Happy Vietnam 2025” media award for authors aged 15 and older worldwide to promote positive portrayals of Vietnam and its people through creative works centered on happiness. Entries must be submitted for approval and assessment from now until September 30.

Vietnam Airlines launches corporate travel program

On May 22, national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines launched LotusBiz, a new program designed to enhance travel efficiency and engagement for corporate clients. Built on the Salesforce platform, LotusBiz offers transparent tracking, reward points, and premium services. As the national flag carrier operating over 100 routes to 21 countries and territories, Vietnam Airlines is ranked among Skytrax’s 4-star airlines. This ranking affirms its role in connecting Vietnamese businesses globally.

Architect Vo Trong Nghia receives Fukuoka Asian Culture Award 2025

Architect Vo Trong Nghia, Founder of VTN Architects, and Visiting Professor at the University of Pennsylvania, has been honored with the 2025 Fukuoka Asian Culture Prize for his outstanding contributions to ecological architecture. Nghia is renowned for combining natural materials, such as bamboo and wood, with modern techniques to produce buildings that harmonize with nature and reflect local culture. He has received over 100 prestigious international awards, including the Prince Claus Award and the World Architecture Festival (WAF). Some of his notable works include the Wind and Water Café in Ho Chi Minh City and the Bat Trang House in Hanoi.

Thanh Hoa welcomes over 7.2 million tourists in early 2025

Thanh Hoa is estimated to have welcomed more than 7.2 million visitors in January-May 2025, which is a 6.9% increase on-year. This generates an revenue of US$635 million, up 31% year-on-year. Home to popular Sam Son beach, Thanh Hoa plans to boost tourism in 2025 by holding over 150 cultural, sporting, and tourism events, including the Sam Son Sea Festival, the Xu Thanh Festival, and an international marathon. The province is also investing in infrastructure, improving service quality, and developing global partnerships.
