Visitors to Hanoi will have the opportunity to attend a special art show entitled "Legends of Youth" at the Vietnamese Women's Museum in Hanoi. This program recreates the lives and struggles of ten young female volunteers at the Dong Loc Junction during the anti-American war. Produced by the museum and director Le Quy Duong, the show was officially launched last year and is one of the top 15-night tourist offerings in Hanoi.

Air ticket prices to be inspected

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam will set up an inspection team to check ticket sales and pricing of Vietnamese airlines to stabilize prices. The inspection period will last from May 7 to 9. The inspection will dig into the ticket sales and pricing of Vietnamese airlines from January 1 to May 4.

ADB committed to helping Vietnam address climate change: official

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is willing to assist Vietnam in domestic projects to deal with climate change, said Warren Evans, ADB Special Senior Advisor for Climate Change, on the sidelines of the 57th Annual Meeting of the ADB Board of Governors in Tbilisi, Georgia, last week. He also noted that Vietnam now faces severe salinization and drought, especially in the Mekong Delta region, putting pressure on the country to better manage land, water, fertilizer, and seeds.

Hanoi apartment prices 12 times lower than China's Hong Kong

According to the latest report by Global Property Guide, a real estate market research unit, the average price in Hanoi is VND52 million (US$2,061) per square meter. Among 11 major Asian cities, it is only above Jakarta, Indonesia, at VND43 million, and below other cities like Bangkok (Thailand), Mumbai (India), Manila (the Philippines), Tokyo (Japan) and Singapore. The average price of apartments in Hong Kong (China) is VND645 million (US$25,573) per square meter, one of the highest in Asia.

Vietnam to present its UPR report at the United Nations

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Do Hung Viet will lead a Vietnamese delegation to present Vietnam's Cycle 4 Universal Periodic Review (UPR) at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, on May 7. At the meeting, Vietnamese delegates will present a report on the protection of human rights, highlight the improvements made on the recommendations for the Cycle 3 report, and make commitments to fulfill the required tasks in the future. In early April, Vietnam rejected a Cycle 4 UPR report prepared by United Nations agencies in Hanoi, saying the report contained untrue and inaccurate information about human rights in Vietnam.

First 9-Ball World Title for a Vietnamese Pool Player

Pool player Duong Quoc Hoang won the title in the final of the Jacoby Scottish Open 2024 on May 5 after defeating Oscar Dominguez 10-8. With the trophy, Hoang becomes the first Vietnamese pool player to win a World 9-Ball Tour (WNT) event. He will receive a prize of 10,000 pounds (US$12,548). Hoang, 37, is one of the most popular pool players in Vietnam. He is a regular participant in several international pool tournaments, such as the Hanoi Open 2023 and the World Pool Master 2023-2024.

Promoting tourism connectivity between China and Phu Quoc Island

Representatives of Chinese airlines have proposed special support policies for connecting flights from China to Phu Quoc Island (southern province of Kien Giang) to help Chinese tourism enterprises create attractive tour packages and bring visitors to the city. Local authorities have pledged to take responsibility and provide maximum support to airlines in bringing tourists to Phu Quoc for sightseeing and resort activities.

Vietnamese athletes prepare for upcoming indoor games

Vietnamese female athletes won six medals, including three gold medals, at the Hong Kong Athletics Championships 2024, according to the Vietnam Athletics Federation. The three gold medals were won by Nguyen Thi Oanh in the finals of women's 3000m steeplechase and women's 5000m, and by Bui Thi Loan in the final of women's triple jump. The sports event was an opportunity for Vietnamese female athletes to test their performance and morale, and prepare for the 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG) hosted by Thailand in November.
