Ericsson to open digital transformation R&D centers in Vietnam

Ericsson plans to establish R&D centers in Vietnam, transfer advanced technologies and train local talents to strengthen the country's position as a hub for innovation. During a meeting with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on November 25, CEO Borje Ekholm pledged to support Vietnam's digital transformation through strategic cooperation, focusing on digital infrastructure, including 5G, AI, cloud computing and satellite internet.

Ha Tinh and Bac Giang industrial park projects approved

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha on November 25 approved the Gia Lach Industrial Park expansion project in the central province of Ha Tinh and the Hoa Yen Industrial Park project in the northern province of Bac Giang. The Gia Lach IP expansion project, covering an area of nearly 195 hectares, is invested by Thang Long Company with a total capital of VND2.2 trillion (US$93 million) and a 50-year operation period. The Hoa Yen Project, covering nearly 257 hectares, will be invested by Fecon Hoa Yen Company with a capital of VND3.7 trillion (US$153.5 million), also for 50 years. 

Vietnam and Thailand strengthen media cooperation

The Vietnam Journalists Association (VJA) and the Confederation of Thai Journalists (CTJ) on November 25 agreed to exchange journalist visits and strengthen media cooperation. The two sides stressed the importance of mainstream media in combating misinformation. The Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs pledged to promote deeper cooperation between the two sides.

Vietnam-China Economic Corridor talks boost cooperation

The 11th Vietnam-China Economic Corridor Cooperation Conference, held on November 25 in Yunnan Province, China, focused on enhancing economic, trade, logistics, and cultural exchanges among localities. Experts of Vietnamese cities and provinces, including Hanoi, Haiphong, Quang Ninh, Yen Bai and Lao Cai, and China's Yunnan Province, explored solutions to strengthen regional connectivity, develop border gates, and facilitate business. The conference concluded with an agreement to hold the 12th meeting in the northern province of Lao Cai, Vietnam, in 2026.

Ninh Binh to host India's TAFI annual conference in 2025

The Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI) has selected the northern province of Ninh Binh to host its annual conference from January 17 to 20, 2025, under the theme "Tourism for Tomorrow: Protecting the Planet." This choice, facilitated by the Consulate General of Vietnam in Mumbai, highlights the cultural and natural heritage of this province. The event aims to promote sustainable tourism and introduce Ninh Binh as an emerging destination to the Indian market, attracting 400 top Indian travel agents.

Vietnam nurtures startup talent with innovative projects

The National Innovative Startup Talent Competition, part of Techfest 2024, has selected five finalists - Yeast Er, Tititada, Enfar, Tubudd, and Thinkprompt - from 500 entries. The event, which kicked off in Haiphong on November 26 and runs through November 28, aims to foster Vietnam's startup ecosystem. This year's projects highlight AI applications across industries, reflecting improved quality and market relevance, with a focus on sustainability and social impact.

Global scientists gather in Hanoi for groundbreaking collaborations

The VinFuture Science and Technology Week and Awards Ceremony 2024 will be held in Hanoi from December 4-7, featuring global experts in AI, materials science, health, and sustainability. Keynote speakers include AI pioneer Yann LeCun, sustainable energy innovator Marina Freitag, and stroke research leader Valery Feigin. The event highlights cutting-edge innovation and Vietnam's commitment to fostering global scientific collaboration.

Vietnamese culture reaches China through translated literature

Two Vietnamese books, "Across the Clouds" by Do Quang Tuan Hoang and "Hanoians: A Taste of the Past" by Vu The Long, have been translated into Chinese and officially published in China in mid-November. These works, which highlight Vietnamese culture, are the first Vietnamese cultural books to be introduced to Chinese readers, fostering cross-cultural understanding and cooperation.

US project supports Ho Chi Minh City's HIV/AIDS response

The United States Mission to Vietnam, through USAID, has launched a US$1.85 million project to support Ho Chi Minh City's HIV response. Working with local partners, the project aims to meet Vietnam's 2030 HIV/AIDS elimination targets. The city has already made progress: 93% of HIV-positive people know their status, 92% are on treatment, and 98% are virally suppressed.
