Tan Hoa honored as world's best tourist village

The United Nations World Tourism Organization honored Tan Hoa, Minh Hoa District, Quang Binh Province, as the world's best village tourism destination at a ceremony held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, on October 19 (local time). Tan Hoa is the only place in Vietnam to be selected out of 260 village tourism destinations for the 2023 awards.

In 2011, Tan Hoa villagers pioneered the construction of flood-adaptive floating houses, making it a weather-adaptive tourist village. It offers unique and distinctive tourism products, with a resort system built by local houseboats, providing visitors with year-round travel experiences.

Vietnam-Algeria seek business cooperation

An online seminar to introduce the Algerian market and economic and trade relations between Vietnam and Algeria was held on October 19, attracting about 60 enterprises. It demonstrates businesses' interest in bilateral economic and trade cooperation. The Chairman of the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CACI) called on Vietnamese businesses to invest in production or processing in Algeria to take advantage of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). The Vietnam Trade Office in Algeria said it would organize more activities to link businesses from both sides.

Vietnam participates in Macao (China) International Trade and Investment Fair

A Vietnamese delegation is participating in the 28th Macao (China) International Trade & Investment Fair from October 19 to 22 to promote Vietnamese goods. Macao people are very fond of Vietnamese food products such as rice, coffee, cashew nuts, fruits, and consumer goods.

ESG Challenge 2023 competition kicks off in Vietnam

The "ESG Challenge 2023" competition, launched by the State Securities Commission and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, will be held from October 19 to December 2, 2023 for students from Foreign Trade University, Banking Academy of Vietnam, Academy of Finance, National Economics University, and the University of Economics and Business - Vietnam National University, Hanoi. The competition aims to create a key workforce that understands ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) and contributes to developing a sustainable financial market in Vietnam.

Vietnam emerges as a key hub for global supply

Vietnam is becoming one of the key links in the global supply chain, said Eric Broussard, Vice President, Worldwide Global Selling & International Seller Services, on October 19. He credited Vietnam's immense production capacity and the determination of its entrepreneurs for elevating the country's status in the global supply chain. A recent report by Amazon shows that Vietnamese sellers sold more than 17 million items on the world's largest e-commerce platform in the 12 months to August 31.

69 vehicle inspection centers at risk of closure

Sixty-nine vehicle inspection centers in Vietnam are at risk of shutting down due to staff shortages, as some 700 technicians and engineers are being investigated and detained for bribery and corruption. The suspension of the inspection centers will put pressure and overload on the remaining ones. According to the Vietnam Register, an inspection center will be suspended in three months if it has two or more registrars suspended in 12 consecutive months. There are now 271 active centers out of a total of 288 nationwide, processing an average of about 626,400 vehicles per month.

US$135 million electronics factory planned in Danang

The Danang Hi-Tech Park and Industrial Zone Authority has announced that Taiwan's Foxlink International Investment will build a US$135 million electronics factory in the city. The plant will cover a total of 11.35 hectares and produce high-tech products such as sensor pens, wireless earphones and headphones, and charging machines. The project is expected to create about 2,000 jobs for the people of Danang and neighboring provinces. Since the beginning of the year, Danang has licensed 16 projects, including FDI projects with a registered capital of $137 million.

Chinese investors keen on Vietnam's mass infrastructure projects

China Honor Engineering Co., Ltd and China Communications Construction Co., Ltd are interested in Vietnam's north-south high-speed railway project and other large-scale ventures, according to a meeting between the two companies and Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung on October 19. The two Chinese companies have been operating in Vietnam for 27 years and have been involved in more than 20 mass infrastructure projects, such as the Hanoi-Haiphong Expressway and the Cai Mep-Thi Vai Seaport.
