Vietnam and Malaysia seek US$18 billion in bilateral trade

Vietnam and Malaysia have set a target to increase bilateral trade to US$18 billion during the official visit of the Speaker of the Malaysian House of Representatives, Tan Sri Dato' Johari Bin Abdul, to Vietnam on October 22-25. Both countries emphasized strategic cooperation, trade and tourism, and agreed to increase high-level exchanges to strengthen their growing ties.

Danang launches direct flight to Ahmedabad, India

Danang aims to diversify tourism products and services to attract Indian tourists with the lauch of a new direct flight between Danang and Ahmedabad on October 23. From January to September 2024, Danang welcomed 139,086 Indian visitors, an increase of 4.2%. The city also hosted Indian weddings and MICE tourism, positioning itself as a premier destination for Indian travelers.

Vietnam-Laos trade and culture fair kicks off in Xiengkhouang

A Vietnam-Laos trade promotion, cultural, and tourism fair was held on October 23 in Xiengkhouang Province, Laos. The three-day event featured a wide range of products including handicrafts, fashion, cuisine, and furniture. From January to July, trade turnover between the two countries reached US$1.1 billion, representing a 16.7% increase over the same period last year.

Ho Chi Minh City calls for stronger e-commerce regulations

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade has urged the Ministry of Industry and Trade to strengthen regulations to control and boost e-commerce, especially cross-border transactions. Key areas include protecting consumer rights, ensuring fair competition, improving quality control, preventing advertising violations, and enforcing tax and customs regulations.

Vietnam Motor Show 2024 opens

The Vietnam Motor Show 2024, which opened on October 23 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center, features 19 automobile brands and nearly 300 booths from the auto parts industry. With 200 car and motorcycle models, the event highlights electric and hybrid vehicles and promotes sustainable mobility. 

Khanh Hoa resumes cruise tourism with arrival of Coral Princess

On October 23, Khanh Hoa welcomed the cruise ship Coral Princess with 2,300 international tourists on board at Cam Ranh International Port, marking the return of cruise tourism after a three-month hiatus due to the upgrading of Nha Trang Port. In the first three quarters 2024, Khanh Hoa received 9 million visitors, including 3.6 million international tourists, exceeding its annual target by 20%.

Lam Dong proposes hot air balloon festival to boost tourism

Lam Dong has proposed to host Southeast Asia's largest hot air balloon festival as part of the 2024 Da Lat Flower Festival. The three-day event, scheduled for November 8-10, will feature 25-30 balloons, including both performance and commercial flights, as well as a carnival parade with 300-350 costumes. The festival aims to attract tourists and stimulate local tourism.
