Historic plaque in France honors President Ho Chi Minh's stay in 1911

A plaque has been unveiled in Sainte-Adresse, France, to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh's stay there in 1911-1912, when he sought independence for his homeland and worked as a gardener. General Secretary To Lam attended the event and stressed its importance in strengthening ties between Vietnam and France.

Vietnam launches national campaign to rebuild dilapidated houses

On October 5, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a national campaign to rebuild more than 153,000 temporary and dilapidated houses. The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs estimates that around VND6.5 trillion (US$267 million) will be needed, with each household receiving VND50 million (US$2,050) for new construction and VND25 million (US$1,025) for repairs.

Vietnam welcomes 12 million international visitors between January and September

Vietnam welcomed more than 12.7 million international visitors between January and September, an increase of 43% over the same period last year. South Korea led the way with 3.3 million visitors, accounting for 26.5%, followed by China with 2.7 million, accounting for 21.3%. Other major markets included Taiwan (China) (954,000 visitors), the US (579,000), Japan (529,000) and Malaysia (357,000), with strong growth from North East Asian and European countries.

Vietnam shines with nine gold medals at IMSO 2024

The Vietnamese team won nine gold medals, 14 silver medals and one bronze medal at the International Mathematical and Scientific Olympiad (IMSO) 2024 competition held in China from October 1-6. With 100% of students winning medals, the Vietnamese team came second overall, the best ever performance by Vietnam and a testament to the growth of education in Hanoi and Vietnam.

Festival to promote Vietnamese Pho held in Korea

A festival showcasing Vietnamese pho was held in Seoul, South Korea, on October 5-6, bringing together many Vietnamese and Korean officials, businesses and Vietnamese expatriates, students and locals. The event also provided an opportunity to further strengthen bilateral relations between Vietnam and South Korea.

Vietnam Airlines starts direct flights to Munich

Vietnam Airlines has launched the first direct flight from Vietnam to Munich, with two weekly flights from Hanoi and one from Ho Chi Minh City from October 7. The new service aims to boost tourism, trade and strengthen ties between Vietnam and Germany.

Digital transformation achievements recognized at national awards

At the Vietnam Digital Awards (VDA) on October 5, 45 organizations were recognized for outstanding achievements in digital transformation in 2024. The awards recognize innovations in artificial intelligence, big data, IoT, and cloud computing. Nearly 400 applications were submitted this year, with a focus on advancements in the public sector and digital solutions in various sectors.

Vietnam-Korea Cultural Day opens 

The 2nd Vietnam-Korea Cultural Day was held in Can Tho on October 5-6 to celebrate 32 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations. The event featured 50 booths showcasing culture, cuisine and trade, as well as K-pop performances and traditional activities. It aimed to strengthen cultural ties, promote youth engagement, and foster business cooperation between Vietnam and Korea.
