Vietnamese writing contest launched in Hungary
"Vietnam in me", a Vietnamese writing contest, was officially launched in Hungary on September 8. Organized by the Budapest Vietnamese Language Center, the contest aims to promote love for the Vietnamese language and homeland among the young Vietnamese generation in this European country. Eligible to participate are Vietnamese students and Vietnamese people living, studying and working here. It is expected to take place within 6 months.
USA to export tangerines, lemons, plums to Vietnam

The US is negotiating to export tangerines, lemons, and plums to Vietnam.
Currently, eight types of fruit from this country are allowed to enter the Vietnamese market, including apples, grapes, oranges, cherries, pears, blueberries, peaches, and nectarines. According to the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), the US exported $3.1 billion worth of agricultural products to Vietnam in 2023.
Cham Festival showcases cultural heritage in Phan Rang-Thap Cham
The 6th Cham Ethnic Cultural Festival with the theme "Preserving and Promoting Cham Cultural Identity in National Development" will be held in Phan Rang-Thap Cham from September 27 to 29. The event will feature Cham cultural performances, exhibitions and sports. The Cham people, known for their rich traditions in pottery and weaving, are an indigenous ethnic group in the south-central coast of Vietnam.
Suoi Rao Ecolodge in Ba Ria-Vung Tau goes carbon neutral
Suoi Rao Ecolodge in Ba Ria-Vung Tau has become the first carbon-neutral destination in the province to be certified by the Institute for Applied Research and Innovation (3AI). Covering 5 hectares and home to over 1 million trees, it marks a significant step towards low-emission tourism and a circular economy. The site stored 1,558.86 tons of CO2 over six years, with only 7% annual consumption.
4th Vietnam School of Earth Observation opens in Binh Dinh
The 4th Vietnam School of Earth Observation (VSEO4) opened on September 9 in Quy Nhon City in the central province of Binh Dinh. More than 40 young scientists from Vietnam, the Philippines, and France participated in the five-day event to learn how to collect, process, and analyze image data from satellites and drones to create a digital elevation model (DEM). DEM can be applied in urban planning, water resource management, disaster risk assessment, and climate change mitigation.
Poster contest marks 95th anniversary of Communist Party
A poster contest will be held to mark the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) (February 3, 1930), highlighting its key role in Vietnam's independence and socialist construction. The competition also commemorates the 50th anniversary of national reunification and the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh. Entries must be submitted by October 2024.
Vietnamese in Czech Republic offer free health check-ups for community health
Vietnamese doctors and doctors in the Czech Republic have coordinated to offer free health check-ups and consultations to the Vietnamese community in the country.

During the Sept. 7 event, 25 doctors from Prague-area hospitals and Vietnamese medical students in the Czech Republic screened more than 200 Vietnamese in a variety of health fields, including ENT (ear, nose, and throat), cardiology, dentistry, nutrition, psychology, and obstetrics.
Over 1000 practitioners to participate in South Korea-sponsored taekwondo championship
The 2024 National Taekwondo Club Championship - Korean Ambassador's Cup will be held in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai from September 11-19. More than 1,000 competitors from 56 clubs across the country will vie for the title. The event highlights promising young athletes and aims to strengthen sports cooperation between Vietnam and South Korea. The annual championship is an important platform for selecting potential talents for the national team.
Vietnam partners with South Korea to develop electronic vehicle charging stations
PetroVietnam Power Corporation (PV Power) is partnering with South Korea’s EN Technologies Inc. to develop electronic vehicle charging stations to promote clean energy and curb environmental pollution.
The latest step is the construction of a charging station in Hanoi, which will be located at Huynh Thuc Khang Street, with two stationary chargers offering 50-60 kW per charging port. The station, with an investment of VND1.8 billion (US$73,000) and a total capacity of 100-120 kW, is expected to become operational this month.
WB supports sustainable urban development in Dong Nai
Vietnam's southern province of Dong Nai joined forces with the World Bank (WB) on September 9 to implement sustainable urban development and efficient growth initiatives, including the development of a public transport system around Long Thanh International Airport and the design of water drainage networks using existing canals.
The World Bank has agreed to provide financial support for the province's projects. Dong Nai estimates it will need VND525 trillion ($21.3 billion) for development from 2026-2030.
