Vietnamese students promote environmental protection during Mid-Autumn Festival

During this year's Mid-Autumn Festival, students in Vietnam's northern province of Ha Giang created lanterns from recycled materials as a way to promote environmental awareness. The initiative, which used plastic bottles and bags, showcased creativity while encouraging responsibility for nature.

Symbolizing both festive joy and environmental protection, these lanterns spread the message of a "green" celebration and taught valuable lessons about reducing waste and preserving the environment for future generations.

Vietnam promotes tourism and cinema to international audience

Vietnam's film and tourism promotion program will be held in San Francisco and Los Angeles, USA, from September 23-25. The event aims to promote Vietnam's image through cinema, attract Hollywood filmmakers to shoot their projects in Vietnam, and boost tourism. The event will promote Vietnam as a new film destination, showcasing the country's scenic landscapes and cultural heritage to a global audience.

 

Vietnam's drum performance wows Kuala Lumpur audience

The "Trong com" (cylindrical drum) performance by Vietnam's Le Ngoc Theatre left a strong impression on the audience at the International Drum and Dance Festival in Kuala Lumpur, held in celebration of Malaysia Day (September 16).

Young Vietnamese actors impressed the audience with a medley of singing and dancing, combined with a lively and resonant drum performance that set the stage alight.

US and Vietnam launch two wildlife conservation projects

Costing more than US$2 million from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the projects fund the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA), marking the first time USAID has provided direct support to local Vietnamese organizations.

South Korean company invests in wind turbine manufacturing in Long An

South Korea's CW Wind Corp. plans to invest US$200 million in a large-scale wind turbine manufacturing plant in Long An Province. The facility will produce 13,000 wind towers annually, contributing to Vietnam's wind power supply chain and enhancing its global competitiveness. Long An, with its strong infrastructure and provincial competitiveness, is a strategic location for this expansion.

Vietnam pockets silver at int'l circus festival

Vietnamese grandmaster ranks 13th globally

Vietnamese grandmaster Le Quang Liem has risen to the 13th place in the world after his impressive performance at the 2024 Chess Olympiad held in Hungary from September 10-23.

33-year-old Liem has helped the Vietnamese chess team defeat the 2022 champion Uzbekistan 3-1 at the 2024 Chess Olympiad. This is the second time the Vietnamese chess team has won all four first rounds in the Open group, after a similar achievement in 2010.

Top players to join billiards competition in Vietnam

The world's top players including Alexander Kazakis (Greece, 3rd) and Carlo Biado (Philippines, 5th) will compete for the biggest prize in Vietnam's billiards history, US$35,000, at the Ho Chi Minh City Open 2024 9-Ball Pool Finals on September 25-29 at the Ho Xuan Huong Sports Arena. Vietnam's best players will also compete in what promises to be an exciting spectacle with meticulous preparation and multiple ticket options for all spectators.
