Ceremony in honor of Cuban President Fidel Castro's visit to Quang Tri Province

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Quang Tri Province held a ceremony on September 26 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of late Cuban President Fidel Castro's visit to the province. The ceremony was the occasion for the authorities and people of Quang Tri to pay tribute to President Fidel and strengthen ties between the two nations.

Cuban President Fidel Castro arrived in Quang Tri Province in September 1973, becoming the first and only foreign leader to visit the liberated zone of South Vietnam during the war. In Quang Tri, President Fidel made an indelible declaration: "For Vietnam, Cubans are willing to give up our own blood".

Vietnamese Ambassador to the UN calls for a nuclear-weapons-free world

Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Vietnam's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, urged the world community to eliminate nuclear weapons as the best way to prevent nuclear threats. Speaking at the UN General Assembly in New York on September 26 (local time), he urged all governments to abide by international treaties against nuclear weapons and resolve disputes through talks and discussions.

Ambassador Giang also reaffirmed Vietnam's consistent commitment not to possess nuclear and mass-destruction weapons.

Vietnam tourism and real estate associations promote mutual development

The Vietnam Tourism Association and the Vietnam Real Estate Association signed cooperation agreements on September 26 to encourage the development of tourism linked to the real estate market. The two sides agreed on various collaborative activities for five years, from September 2023 to September 2028.

Accordingly, the two associations will coordinate with relevant central and local authorities and other related organizations and enterprises to propose mechanisms, policies, support programs, and investment directions for the tourism and real estate sectors.

Over 50,000 Vietnamese tourists visit Japan in August

According to the Japan National Tourist Organization (JNTO) in Vietnam, the number of Vietnamese visitors to Japan reached 50,900 in August 2023, up 16.5% compared to the same period in 2019 and 54% year-on-year.

From January to August, the flow of Vietnamese tourists to Japan increased by 17.4% compared to the same period in 2019, making it one of Vietnam's outbound markets with the highest recovery and growth rates.

Hanoi launches activities to accelerate digital transformation

The Hanoi People's Committee plans to launch a series of activities in response to the National Digital Transformation Day 2023. The city hopes to raise awareness among people, organizations, and enterprises about digital transformation as the foundation of the city and nation's reform and sustainable development.

According to the plan, all government officials and employees must adopt digital solutions to improve performance and help people and enterprises explore online platforms to purchase goods and services.

Vietnam joins World Federation of Exchanges, eyes more foreign capital

The Vietnam Stock Exchange has been approved as an official member of the World Federation of Exchanges, a move that could help attract more foreign capital to the Vietnamese stock market and benefit the operations of the two local bourses. The vote was held during the WFE 2023 annual summit on September 19-21.

In 2022, the Vietnam Stock Exchange joined the ASEAN Exchanges, a collaboration of seven stock exchanges in Southeast Asia, the ASEAN Bond Market Forum, and the Asian and Oceanic Stock Exchanges Federation.
