Japan room fosters cultural and diplomatic ties

The Japan Room was inaugurated on September 26 at the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam to improve cultural understanding and academic exchange between Vietnam and Japan. Japanese Ambassador Ito Naoki said the move demonstrates bilateral ties over the next 50 years while the academy highlighted the room's importance in diplomatic education.

Vietnam to host UN Vesak Day 2025

Vietnam will host the United Nations Day of Vesak 2025 which is expected to attract around 2,000 participants from 80 countries. The celebration, held in Ho Chi Minh City, will serve as a cultural and people-to-people exchange event to showcase the image, people, and culture of Vietnam to the global community.

Vietnam surveys key islands to boost defense and economic growth

Nguyen Minh Vu, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs on September 26 led a delegation to survey key islands in the Gulf of Tonkin and Bac Luan River area, aiming to enhance cooperation with Chinese localities. He highlighted the islands' strategic role in national security and economic development, commending local efforts in promoting economic collaboration with China.

ADB approves US$2 million to support Vietnam’s disaster response

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a $2 million grant to assist northern Vietnam in providing emergency and humanitarian services to residents affected by Typhoon Yagi. The grant is funded by the Asia Pacific Disaster Response Fund, which aims to support ADB’s developing member countries affected by major disasters triggered by natural hazards.

International beauty contest promotes cultural diversity

The Miss Multicultural World contest, officially launched on September 26, will run until June 29, 2025 to promote cultural diversity. More than 50 contestants from various countries and territories will participate in activities across Vietnam from June 22 to 29, 2025 with the final taking place in Hanoi, featuring national costumes, evening gowns, and Ao Dai performances.
